                    Lewis Burwell; m. Col. William Bernard; m. Col.
                    Philip Ludwell.


                          Generation Three

3.  Lucy Higginson (Robert2, Thomas1); b. between 1643 and 1649; m.
Maj. Lewis Burwell, son of Edward Burwell and Dorothy Bedell, 1648;
1st husband; m. Col. William Bernard, son of Francis Bernard and Mary
Woolhouse; 2nd husband; m. Col. Philip Ludwell, son of Thomas Ludwell
and Jane Cottington; 3rd husband, 1st wife; d. Nov 1675 at Virginia.

     Maj. Lewis Burwell was baptized on 5 Mar 1621/22 at Ampthill,
Bedford, England. He resided at 'Carter's Creek', Gloucester Co., VA.
He resided at 'Fairfield', Gloucester Co., VA. He died on 18 Nov 1653
at age 31. He was buried at Abington Church, Gloucester Co., VA.

     Col. William Bernard was born circa 1601. He immigrated in 1622
to Virginia; on ship 'Futherance.' He resided at Nansemond Co., VA. He
resided at Isle of Wight Co., VA. He died on 31 Mar 1665.
     Known children of Lucy Higginson and Col. William Bernard were as
follows:
                 i. George Bernard was living in 1665 at England.
                ii. Lucy Bernard; m. Dr. Edmund Gwyn; 1st husband; m.
                    Edward Creffield Jr; 2nd husband.
               iii. Elizabeth Bernard; m. Thomas Todd, son of Capt.
                    Thomas Todd and Anna Gorsuch.

     Col. Philip Ludwell was Governor of the Carolinas. He was a
member of the Governor's Council at Virginia. He married Frances
Culpeper; 2nd wife, 2nd husband.
     Known children of Lucy Higginson and Col. Philip Ludwell were as
follows:
                 i. Philip Ludwell II.
                ii. Jane Ludwell; m. Col. Daniel Parke.
