Paulding County borders the state of Indiana and is also situated in the Black Swamp District. It is the most level county in the state.
Both Paulding County, and the county seat were named after Revolutionary War hero John Paulding. Because of the marshlands this county was not settled until the late 1800's, in spite of the arrival of the canals in the 1840's.
The major industries in Paulding County include; stone-clay-glass, food, machinery, asbestos, brake linings, metal stamping, automotive glass, cement and soybeans.
