OTHER INFORMATION

Medina takes its name from an Arabian city in which Mohammed is buried. The county seat was originally named Mecca, but it is presently called Medina.

The city of Medina is known as the home of the A.I. Root Company, manufacturer of beekeepers' supplies and the third largest processor of beeswax. Nearby Wadsworth contains a branch of Kent State University.

Principle industries in the county include; metals, rubber, food, machinery, mathches, candles, aluminum castings, furnaces, automobile parts and dairy products.

Probate Court has birth & death records to 1909, marriage & probate records; Health Department has birth and death records from 1909; Clerk of Courts has divorce & civil court records from 1818; County Recorder has land records.
