OTHER INFORMATION
Harrison County takes its name from William Henry Harrison, the first president of the U.S. to be elected from Ohio. It comprises about 414 square miles of the ancient and deeply eroded Allegheny Plateau.
For a century, Harrison County was predominantly agricultural. After World war I, the economic base of the country shifted to soft-coal mining. Cadiz is the county seat.
