Ancestry.Com Global Search
Ancestry Global Search helps people find their ancestors by searching hundreds of volumes of data with one targeted search. Currently, Global Search performs its searches based on first and last name, location, and time period. The response to the introduction of this new approach to searching genealogical data has been extremely positive. Instead of spending hours searching through hundreds of individual databases, users can now find the same results with one search.
Ancestry Global Search is a genealogical search engine that searches all of the databases included in the Ancestry.com Library. Ancestry.com adds at least one new database daily to its library, which is home to over 90 million genealogical records. Ancestry Global Search searches all of these genealogical records and displays results from relevent databases.
Some of the databases at Ancestry.com, such as the Social Security Death Index and the Ancestry World Tree, are free databases. Most databases are free for a 10-day period when they are first posted. The rest of the databases require a subscription to Ancestry.com to view the search results. Anyone can identify all of the possible relevent databases without ever subscribing to Ancestry.com.
