25th President

William's family was poor. Because he could not earn enough money, he left college for a while to do just that. After he served in the Civil War, he completed his college education.

After college, he started his law practice in Canton, Stark County, Ohio. He was Governor of Ohio twice and a United States Congressman. He was a well-loved President. McKinley was shot by an assassin.

His birthplace in Niles, Trumbull County, Ohio and his grave is in Canton, Stark County, Ohio.
