|William's family was poor. Because he could not earn enough money, he left college for a while to do just that. After he served in the Civil War, he completed his college education. |
After college, he started his law practice in Canton, Stark County, Ohio. He was Governor of Ohio twice and a United States Congressman. He was a well-loved President. McKinley was shot by an assassin.
His birthplace in Niles, Trumbull County, Ohio and his grave is in Canton, Stark County, Ohio.
