Ohio's Presidents - William Henry Harrison
William Henry Harrison

[1773-1841]
9th President

Although William was born in Charles County, Virginia, he called Ohio home. To please his family, he studied to be a doctor but he really wanted to be a soldier. When his father died, William joined the army and became a soldier. He fought with "Mad" Anthony Wayne at Fallen Timbers. A few years later he fought against Tecumseh.

Because he was a hero in the army, he won the election for President. On a cold and stormy day, William took office as President. He caught a cold and died a month later. He was the first President to die in office.

His tomb is at North Bend, Hamilton County, Ohio.
