Story* Notes on: Jean Baptiste D'Amours de Louviere

(RN=256) MMPFGPLMCB (CBL.64) From the age of three Jean Baptiste was with his father and
step mother at Riviere St. Jean (St. John River, New Brunswick) until 1704 when the English
burned everything in their way. Jean Baptiste was then 10 years old. Witnessing his family's
disaster, Jean Baptiste never forgot it. Raised in the midst of perils and difficulties, he
became a daring, tenacious and even aggressive man. With the family he came back to Ste.Foy,
near Quebec City, on his grandfather's land and had to contribute his share of the development
of the farm. However he disliked agriculture and became a soldier like his older brother.
At his father's death in late 1716 in lieu of rights to his father's estate which he renounced,
Jean Baptiste obtained a strip of land having a frontage of one and a half acres in the full
depth of the farm. He was sent to Beaumont for his military service and there met and married
Marie Anne. In the marriage contract Jean Baptiste was very generous, giving his future wife a
dowry of 3000 livres and a preferred legacy of 500 livres. He was at Saint Valier in 1720.
In 1724 he sold his land at Ste. Foy to his older brother and established himself on the lands
of his father-in-law, where two years later he was given five acres in depth, in the Seigniory
of La Durantaye. Following the death of Marie Anne, Jean Baptiste married at Quebec 11 April
1735 Marie Jeanne Renoyer, widow of Louis Boucher, by whom he had eight children.
He was at Bethier in 1736 and at Kamouraska in 1738. Around 1739 he bought a lot of 2 acres by
1 acre at St.Roch-des-Aulnaies where he built a house and lived until 1744.
In 1745 he was at Ste. Anne-de-le-Pocatiere.
Jean Baptiste and Marie Anne are believed to have had three children.

Story* Notes on: Barthelemy Bergeron dit D'Amboise

(RN=258) (Apr 89). In the census of 1736 at the village of Sainte Anne, Riviere St.Jean (now New
Brunswick), Barthelemy is listed as residing there with four sons and four daughters, however,
only Jean Baptiste and Charles are named. Captured by the British at Riviere St.Jean, members
of this family were kept prisoners at Halifax until the Treaty of Peace of 1763. They then
established themselves in Louisiana. At the time of the 9 Apr 1766 census of the Acadian Coast
(present St. James) on the Mississippi River, Barthelemy was already deceased and Marie
Marguerite was shown living with her daughter Anne and husband (Pierre Arceneaux) on the
west bank. Barthelemy and Marie Marguerite are known to have had at least eleven children.
