Note* Jean Baptiste Poirier 6. JEAN-BAPTISTE POIRIER & MARIE CORMIER.
Explanatory Note P. Gallant
One may conclude that Madeleine Doiron's husband Joseph Poirier
belonged to J ean- Baptiste's family because their children had as godparents
a Pierre and a Cecile Poirier. These were Joseph's brother and sister.
Explanatory Notes S.A. White
i. Joseph, Jean, and Pierre Poirier are all described as the groom's cousins
in the record of the marriage of Jean-Baptiste Poirier, son of Pierre
Poirier and Marie Gaudet (Rg Becancour 6 Nov 1786). These three
"cousins" were all brothers, and sons of Joseph Poirier and Madeleine
Doiron. This shows that Madeleine Doiron's husband belonged to J ean-
Baptiste Poirier's family.
ii. It would appear that Marie-Josephe was a member of Jean-Baptiste
Poirier's family because the godparents of her son Jean-Baptiste Hebert
(Rg Bbn 21 March 1741) were Jean Cormier and Anne Cormier, who
were probably relatives on the side of her mother, Marie Cormier.2
