The following Amelia County, Virginia deeds are true to the originals copied from the Court House records and transcribed by Linda Sparks Starr March 2003. Amelia County Deed Book 5, page 439-440 William Barnes to Joseph Jackson This Indenture made this Twenty second day of April and in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven hundred and fifty Six Between William Barnes of amelia County of the one Part and Joseph Jackson of the County of Culpeper of the other part. Witnesseth That the said William Barnes for and in Consideration of the sum of Sixty pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Joseph Jackson the Receipt thereof he the said William Barnes doth hereby acknowledge and himself fully satisfied Contented and paid hath given granted Bargained and Sold and by these Presents doth give grant Bargain Sell and Confirm unto the said Joseph Jackson of the County aforesaid and to his Heirs and Assigns one Certain Parcel or Tract of Land containing Two hundred acres be the same more or less lying on the Branches of Sandy Creek in Amelia County. It being part of a Tract of land formerly granted to William Eckhols by a Patent bearing date and bounded as follows to wit Beginning and Runing Thence West Seven Degrees North one hundred Eighty five pole to a red oak. Thence north ten Degrees East one hundred and Seventy pole to a Corner. Thence East Twenty Degrees north one hundred and fifty pole to a Corner Thence South five Degrees East Two hundred and Eighty Eight pole to the Begining with Houses Orchards Woods Under Woods Waters and Water courses with all their appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise pertaining To have and to hold the said Land and appurtenances unto the Said Joseph Jackson his Heirs Executors administrators and assigns for ever and the Said William Barnes Doth for himself his Heirs etc Covenant and agree with the said Joseph Jackson that he the said William Barnes and his Heirs the above Land and premisses unto the said Joseph Jackson and to his Heirs and assigns shall and will Warrant and forever Defend In Witness whereof the said William Barnes hath hereunto put his hand and Seal the Day and Year above written. Samuel Cobbs C ct Amelia County Deed Book 11, pages 265-6 William Rucker to Joseph Jackson This Indenture made this twenty three Day of May one thousand seven hundred and seventy one Between William Rucker of Amelia County and Parish of Raleigh of the one part and Joseph Jackson of the above said County and parish of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Rucker for and in Consideration of the sum of Fifty pound Currant money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Joseph Jackson the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge Hath given granted bargained aliened Released Sold and Confirmed and by these pressents Doth give grant Bargain sell Release and Confirm to the said Joseph Jackson and to his Heirs and assigns for ever One Certain Tract or Parsel of land situate lying and being in the parish of Raleigh and County of Amelia Containing one hundred and Fifty acres more or less Bounded as followeth Beginning at asaid Corner thence north ten degrees East one hundred and Sixty pole to a White oak thence West ten degrees north two hundred pole to apine thence south ten degrees West to a spanish oak thence along a new line to the Begining with all Buildings woods and underwoods growing or Standing on the said premisses ways Endowments with all profits Comodities and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining thereunto with all Rights Titles use Trust and Interest property Claim and Demand of him the sd William Rucker of and in all and singular the premisses To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of land with and singular the primisses herein [page] 266 before mentioned ment or Intended to be hereby granted with all and every of there appertenances unto the said Joseph Jackson and to his Heirs and assigns for ever from the said William Rucker and his Heirs the said land and all and singular the premisses before mentioned with all appertainances unto the said Joseph Jackson his Heirs and assigns and to his and their proper use and uses against the Challenge Claim or Demand of any person or persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and for ever by there presence Defend Witness whereof the said William Rucker Hath set his hand and seal the Day and year above Written.
