[Jacob Stout Family]

Jacob M. Stout and family came to Mooresville Township shortly after the Civil War ended. They lived in a grout house about 1/8 mile east of the Caldwell Co. Line.

Standing: Elmer Stout (1862 - 1948), Castella (Stout) Colvin (1860 - 1924), Henry Colvin (1854 - 1944), Irving Stout (1869 - 1945).

[Stanford Stout Family]

Stanford Stout came from New Jersey to Mooresville Township to work for his uncle, Jacob M. Stout (see above). Stanford built at least two houses in the township,
one in Mooresville Springs and another about 3/4 mile northeast of town, where this photo was taken. From left to right: Stanford N. Stout (1861 - 1938), James E. Stout (1936 - ),
