Phillip Meroney for $500 sold Reuben Copeland 200 acres on 12 Mile River of Saluda River. Date 7 Feb. 1804. Signed: Phil D. Maroney. Wit: David Murphree, Jesse Murphee. David Murphee made oath to Amos Ladd, J.P., 16 May1805.

PENDLETON DISTRICT
SOUTH CAROLINA
DEEDS
1790-1806
submitted by: Charles Ladd.

10 April 1795 James Davis of Pendleton to Wm. Glenn of Rockingham Co., N.C.

..... Amos Ladd wit. & made oath to Baily Anderson.

Note: This is about the time that Amos & Mary (Carmicael) Ladd of Stokes Co.

moved to South Carolina. William Glenn was a brother-in-law to Amos Ladd.

21 Jan. 1799 William Lynch of Pendleton Co. to William Sutherland of Rockingham Co., N.C. for 700 silver dollars for 320 acres on both sides of Woolenoy creek of Saluda river, part of 640 acres granted William Hart and Jno. Edwards Esqs. Treas. of State, 7 Apr. 1789. Wit. Amos Ladd, Joseph Ladd, John Ladd. Amos Ladd Sr. made oath to Wm. Reed J.P., 24 Jan. 1799.

Note: This is the family of Amos Ladd the s/o Noble & Judith Dameron Ladd of Stokes co., NC and Albemarle co. VA. This is the only record that I have found of Joseph Ladd. I believe that this Joseph is the son of Amos Sr. and that he married Hester ______. And, he moved to Kentucky about 1802/03 and then to Knox Co., Indiana for several years. Joseph and family was in what is now Sevier Co., Arkansas in about 1816/17. Joseph died in Scott Co., Arkansas sometime between 1840-1850. He is very likely buried in the County Line cemetery in that county. John was a son of Amos sr., above, and he lived and died in Pickens Co., S.C.   The Amos Ladd jr., above, was the Amos Ladd who married Anna Stone, who was the d/o Solomon Stone, and the same Amos who moved to Bedford and Marion Co., Tennessee about 1810. I suspect that Solomon Stone, who was a Revolutionary War Soldier, married a d/o Noble & Judith (Dameron) Ladd. Solomon Stone's war
records show that he moved with the Amos Ladd II family when they migrated to Tennessee and Jackson Co., Alabama. Solomon probably died in Marion county, Tennessee sometime after 1835.

Perkins

Peter Perkins moved from Pittsylvania co. Va. to Stokes Co. N.C. between 10 Apr. and 13 Nov. 1797, and his brother Nicholas moved there by 1799. Both owned large tracts of land in Pendleton District but there is no record that they ever lived there.
