First Generation


1. John Cherry. Born in 1619 in England, John died in Norfolk County, Virginia before 1670; he was 51.1 John married Elizabeth (Faithful?), who was born about 1625 in England.1
       
  They had the following children:
       
    i. John. Born in 1641 in Norfolk County, Virginia.1 John married Rebecca Maund, who was born about 1640.1
       
    ii. Edward.
       
    iii. Elizabeth. Elizabeth married Joseph Miller, who died about 1693 in Norfolk County, Virginia.
       
    iv. Solomon.
       
    v. Sarah.
       
    vi. Joseph.
       
    vii. Martha.
       
    viii. Faithful. Born in 1662 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Faithful died there in 1727/1728; he was about 65.
       
    ix. William. William died in 1735/1737 in Norfolk County, Virginia. William married Elizabeth.
       
    x. Thomas (~1675-1748).

Second Generation


2. Thomas Cherry. Born about 1675 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Thomas died there in 1748; he was 73. Read a transcript of his will. Thomas married Sarah (Wilson?).2
       
  They had the following children:

    ii. Jeremiah. Born before 1714 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Jeremiah died there in 1754; he was 40. Jeremiah married Mary.
       
    iii. William.
       
    iv. Mary. Mary married Eleazar Tart Jr.1
       
    v. Martha. Martha married a Mr. Foreman.
       
    vi. Faith. Faith died after 1762. After 1748, Faith married [Jonathan?] Martin, who died after 1762.
       
    vii. Jonas. Born before Jan 1714 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Jonas died there in 1730/1733.
       
    viii. Francis.

Third Generation


3. Sarah Cherry. Sarah died in 1762 in Portsmouth Parish, Norfolk County, Virginia. Read Sarah's will. Sarah married John Brown,2 son of Edward Brown & Mary (Burroughs?). John was born after 1706, and died in Norfolk County, Virginia in 1762; he was at most 56. Read John's will.
       
  They had the following children:
       
  4. i. Edward Brown. Born 1722/1734 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Edward died there in 1782/1785; he was at least 60 years old. Continue on the Brown page.
       
    ii. James Brown. Born in 1722/1734 in Norfolk County, Virginia, James died 1752/1754.
       
    iii. John Brown. Born in 1722/1734 in Norfolk County, Virginia. John died there in Portsmouth Parish before 16 Jul 1792.
       
    iv. Martha Brown. Before 1738 Martha married Joseph Ballentine, son of Richard Ballentine. Born before 1714 in Norfolk County, Virginia, Joseph died there in 1767/1768; he was at least 53.
       
    v. Mary Brown. Mary married (John?) Tucker.
