[1] Robert’s occupations were weaver and woolsorter. His wife Theodocia Webster Dewhirst was born 17 November 1763 and chr 14 December 1763 in Saint Peter’s, Leeds, Yorkshire, England, daughter of John Webster. No Will for Robert was found in Borthwick index 1805-19 although the Old Wesleyan Chapel Leeds burial register has a Robert Dewhirst aged 57, buried 13 July 1817 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England.

[2] Although Benjamin’s burial entry gives his age as 46 in January 1832 (implying he was born 1785-6), his parents are identified as Robert and Theodocia Dewhirst through the Queen St Wesleyan Chapel baptismal records of his sister Mary’s children, where Mary’s parents’ names are given. Click on Benjamin's name in the charts to see his descendants.

[3] Mary’s husband John Winterburn was christened 3 September 1792 in Leeds, Yorkshire and was buried 11 March 1848 aged 55 at Queen St Wesleyan Chapel Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England in the same crypt as her brother Benjamin and other members of his family. John's occupations were book keeper, wool sorter, and clerk. The marriage of Mary and John was witnessed by Joseph Bowers who was also named on Benjamin Dewhirst’s 1815 wedding banns document and his 1831 will. John was an executor of Benjamin’s will.

Children of Mary and John were:

Dewhirst, b abt 1831 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, christened 11 Oct 1835 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, died aft 1851, occupation milliner.

NOTE: there is room for some children to have died between John and Mary and also between Thomas and Robert.
