Mother's Day Poems -- 4

THANKS, MOM

Since I had a mother
whose many interests
kept her excited and occupied . . . .

Since I had a mother
who interacted with so many people
that she had a real feeling for the world . . . .

Since I had a mother
who always was strong
through any period of suffering . . . .

Since I had a mother
who was a complete person,
I always had a model
to look up to
and that made it easier
for me to develop into
an independent woman.

~~ Susan Polis Schultz

SOMEBODY'S MOTHER

The woman was old and ragged and gray,
and bent with the chill of the winter's day.

The street was wet of recent snow
and the woman's feet were aged and slow.

She stood at the crossing and waited long alone,
uncared for amid the throng

of humans beings who passed her by
nor heeded the glance of her anxious eye.

Down the street with laughter and shout,
Glad in the freedom of "School is out".

Came the boys like a flock of sheep,
bailing the snow piled white and deep.

Past the woman old and gray,
hastened the children on their way.

At last came one of the merry troop,
the gayest laddie of all the group.

He paused beside her and whispered low,
"I'll help you cross if you wish to go".

Her aged hand on his strong young arm,

he guided the trembling feet along;
Proud that his own were firm and strong.

Then back again to his friends he went,
This young heart happy and well content.

"She's somebody's mother, boys, you know,
for all she's aged and poor and slow".

And somebody's mother bowed low her head,
In her home that night and the prayers she said;

"God be kind to the noble boy,
who is somebody's son and pride and joy.

A MOTHER'S PRAYER

The things I never told you I'd like to tell you now;
Of feelings held contently inside my heart to swell;

Of thoughts and dreams, wants and happiness too;
A Mother's prayer to finally share with you.

Lord, govern their lifes as you have mine,
touch them with your sweet divine,

Make them happy, guide their paths,
Tickle their funnybones, let me hear their laughs.

Dry the tears sliding down their faces,
Hold their hands when the love heart races,

Make them stand tall when the burdens are great,
Prepare them to carry the loads of fate.

Heal the hurts and sufferings of the spirit,
Make them listen until they hear it;

That sweet song of yours that will touch their soul
and carry them forward until they are old.

Lord, let them see the meaning of life,
Protect them from the evils of strife,

Gently guide them in the path of your ways,
I pray, Lord, I pray for them everyday.

I know, Lord, that I fell short many times;
In my guidance as "Mom" there were crimes,

times that I failed to help them see
the beauty that you have bestowed around me.

Take their hands and lead them forward
give them strength to avoid the coward

and evil ones that lurk about
waiting to swallow them up and shout

the conquest of their gentle soul
Provide them the coin to pass the toll.

Please make things right, Lord, once again
to help them to see the meaning of friend

and loved ones that hold them close to the heart
with a Mother that loves them, never apart.

MOTHER, I MISS YOU

Is it me,
or have I deceived myself?
I thought I heard you call my name,
out in the pouring rain.
I really thought,
I thought I saw your face.
But after a second look
I saw I made a clear mistake.

Mother I Miss You
And nights I just wish you were here with me
So we can laugh and talk again.

Mother I miss you
But I'll just kiss you and send it on the wind
'cause you know I plan to see you again.

So much I wanted to show you.
So much I wanted to give.
I thought our time would be much longer.
Missing My Best Friend.

Mother I miss you.
And nights I just wish you were here with me
So we can laugh and talk again.

Mother I Miss You
But I'll just kiss you and send it on the wind
'cause you know I plan to see you again.

Mama, this is for you.
I miss you so much and I love you "so good"!!

TO MOM....

In her, I see the strength that sustains my soul.
In her, I find courage to strive for my goal.

In her, I recognize myself, both good and bad.
In her, I discovered the best friend I've ever had.

From her, came my zest for life and love.
From her, the will to rise above.

From her, a heart, strong and true.
From her, a vision, fresh and new.

From her, I get my sarcastic wit.
From her, my patience, a little bit.

From her, my sense of right and wrong.
From her, my voice to raise in song.

With her, I can be nonsensical or sane.
With her, life can be a serious game.

With her, each day is a brand new start.
With her, my hopes find a sheltering heart.

To her, I am her copy, her clone.
To her, my heart is always known.

To her, who taught me how to live.
To her, who showed me live = give.

For her, I go the extra mile.
For her, I try to share my smile.

For her, I always do my best.
For her, I stand out from the rest.

--------

You are special with God's blessing,
You are living on his sayings.
You shower us with your love and care,
And teach us how to study and share.

You scold us at times,
For us to learn many good kinds.
You cook for us vegetables which are green,
And we eat that to keep our brains clean.

We will treasure you till the end,
Without any problems in your hands.

Don't loose your temper,
And let your life shatter.
For they may torture you!

My mother is understanding and kind
When I make mistakes she does not mind.
I think she's very pretty
She is also very thrifty.

She has gone through many hardships and friendships.
She sits on a chair in an air-conditioned office comfortably and works from seven to eight
and in the process puts on weights.

She has short hair
and skin that is fair.
She wears her watch on her right hand
On the other, she sometimes holds a fan.

"Mother," a name so clear to me.
Yet not so when she is around me.
One who is never tired of nagging.
Yet one who never cease to care for me.

Though plain and simple she might be.
Yet strict even the songs I sang.
One who always censor the songs I sang
With rocks and pops forbidden to sing.

Mother who is never short of praises.
For others but not for children of her own.
One who never seemed to be content with me.
Yet one who is always there for me.

I wake up every morning
Dreading the day that lies ahead
You stand there smiling
Giving encouragement as I get out of bed.

Through hardships and sorrowful days
You have always been by my side
Though I might have made many mistakes
Mother, you always considered me as your only pride.

When I think of all the things you've done for me,
I can't express my thanks in words
How can I ever repay and show my gratitude?
Mother, You are the best in this and all the worlds!

Mother has real feelings for me.
Listens to the day's activities of my family.

She is a lovely person,
So wonderful and dear.

She gives me energy,
And warms my spirit.
Always bringing sunshine,
Whenever she is near.

She gives a special comfort,
And makes a house a home.
Mother always loves us,
No matter where we are.

Mother does so many things for the family,
She washes and irons,
Cooks and sews,
And tends to shopping too.

It seems that she's very busy,
From the time she awakes,
Why there isn't any at all,
That Mother couldn't do?

When I was sick
With fever or flu,
She was there.

When I failed my tests
With red marks too,
She was there.

When I was lost
With nowhere to go,
She was there.

When I was sad
With my face so blue,
She was there.

Whether rain or shine
She'll always be there,
She's my mother.
