Notes for John B. Langworthy (ca 1784)
Note:

There is no proof that this John B. Langworthy was the son of Andrew and Ruth (Brown) Langworthy, but:

* The Langworthy Family (WFL) says that Andrew and Ruth had a son named John whom he could not trace.

* John B’s age is about right.

* Many of the children of Andrew and Ruth - and Ruth herself - went to the area of Utica, NY, where John B. was in 1830.

* John B.’s daughter Agnes married the son of his sister Demaris in Utica.

* No other candidates are known for this John B.

Census Tracking:
* 1820 - Aurelius, Cayuga Co., New York
* 1830 - Utica, Oneida Co., New York
* 1840 - Canajoharie, Montgomery Co., New York

The City Directories of Utica, NY show that John B. was living there in 1828 and 1829, and that he was a ‘hatter’. Longworth’s Directory of New York City for 1839-40 states that John B. Langworthy, hatter, resided at 500 Grand. His 1856 death record in Manhattan also says he was a ‘hatter’.
