From his obituary:

The deceased was a native of Onondaga Co., NY. At the age of 21 he removed to Wyoming County, where he married Caroline H. Bishop. From the last named place he removed to Ashtabula Co., Ohio, and thence to Erie Co., Penn., where he remained till 1845. He then went to Monroe Co., NY, where he lived till 1847. In that year he became a resident of Oceana County, Michigan, and in 1852 came to Grand Traverse, where he has ever since resided. For a time he lived in what is now the township of Whitewater, where he built a saw mill many years ago. Subsequently he sold his property there and settled in Peninsula where he has ever since resided.1200

His obituary says he died on Oct 21, 1872.
