Although family histories say that Robert’s wife was Elizabeth Bennett, there is no proof that she was the daughter of Abel Bennett (which would make her the sister of Jane Bennett, the wife of Robert’s brother Benjamin). But:

* Census records suggest that Abel had another daughter.

* Robert’s family lived adjacent to Abel’s family in the 1800 Census of Warrensburg.

* It does explain why Robert’s first child was named Abel.
