Notes for Elizabeth Robbins
Also Betsey.
There is no proof that Elizabeth Robbins was the second wife of Simon. But:
* The Rathbone Genealogy quotes a letter from Ira R. Lawson, who appears to have been a member of the Shaker Society of West Pittsfield, which says “ Steuben Langworthy’s father was Simon, his mother a Robins.”
* In September, 1816, Betsy Langworthy (age ca 46) and five young children named Langworthy: Lucy H (15), Betsey Ann (14), Minerva B. (11), Frederick (9), and Henry D (6) took up residence at the Shaker Community in Hancock, Mass. Although the available records don’t show any relationships among these individuals, it seems reasonable to assume that Betsy, Simon’s wife, was the mother of these children.
* She died in the Hancock Shaker Community, June 19, 1854.
Census Tracking:
* 1850 - Pittsfield, Berkshire Co., Mass. (Longworthy)
Note: Living in a Shaker Community headed by William P. Williams.
