Notes for James Langworthy (1711)
In September, 1732, John Langworthy of Newport was involved in litigation about a lottery. His occupation was ‘joyner’, roughly equivalent to a finish carpenter today.

In September, 1735, “James Langworthy of Newport Joyner” acted as attorney to Freelove Allen, a daughter of Ephraim Smith, late of Kingstown. John acknowledged receipt of her share, and his wife’s share, of the estate of their father, Ephraim Smith. He signed and sealed the document.

According to William F. Langworthy, James Langworthy died of smallpox in Cape May.
