Notes for Robert Langworthy (ca 1702)
According to “The Langworthy Family”, by William F. Langworthy (WFL), Robert was a carpenter who died young of the bilious colic. WFL says that he was engaged to Elizabeth Burdick, daughter of Deacon Robert and Rebecca (Foster) Burdick of Westerly, RI, who later married his brother Joseph. The Burdick genealogy doesn’t mention this engagement.
The Langworthy Chronicle of September, 1928 says that Robert died at Clark’s Falls at the age of 21. If so, then the earliest date for his birth is 1702, because the family moved there ca 1723. Robert certainly died before Aug 20, 1728, when a court document shows that Thomas and Joseph were the only surviving children of Patience Brownell. This suggests that Robert may have been born as late as 1707. I’ve shown his birth as ca 1702 because WFL says that he was the oldest, Thomas being born in 1704.
