Mrs. Adolph Nelson of Newmans Grove, Neb., is recovering from a siege of scarlet fever.

Mrs. P. A. Johnson suffered a fall early Friday morning that for a time looked like it might be pretty serious. She arose while Mr. Johnson was starting the fire, fell and cut a bad gash in her head that necessitated several stitches. She is getting along nicely now. Mrs. Anna Tellgren cares for her day times but the accident occurred before the time for her to get there in the morning.

The Friday afternoon club had a farewell surprise party on Mrs. Goodrich Monday night. About a dozen were present and a pleasant hour was passed socially, a lunch was served and Mrs. Goodrich was presented with several very pretty dishes. We think the idea is to give her dishes enough so every one in Kiron will be sure of a plate and place to eat when they visit Denison after she gets moved.

W. J. Sandberg is enjoying a vacation from his duties at the Kiron State Bank in serving on the grand jury in Denison this week.

Aaron Ackerson from near Odebolt is moving to the farm Rudolph Warner is going to leave.

Myrtle Eklund returned Sunday from a visit in Odebolt.

John Turin and Chas. Bergin, as we stated last week, were at the big cattle auction in Denver and each bought a nice bunch of feeders. Mr. Turin bought 160 head, 4 cars, and they arrived here on the Northwestern Monday, and Mr. Bergin bought 124 head, 3 cars, and shipped them over the Central to Deloit and drove them home. Eleven cars of these cattle went on west of here Monday, we presume to Schleswig feeders. Also Wm. and John Moeller, west of Kiron were out to the sale and each bought a car of feeders. The cattle were auctioned off at the rate of a minute and a half to the car.

Mrs. Hoagland entertained the C. B. Larson family and Mrs. Goodrich and Leonard to dinner Thursday night.

L. A. Larson's entertained Mr. and Mrs. Otto Larson, Doris and Edgar Thursday night. Will Larson came out from Sioux City after his car last week.

Mrs. Elizabeth Tellgren remains very low.

Mrs. Emil Mauritz visited in Boyer Friday returning Saturday.

C. B. Larson moved into their new home Wednesday. Louie Baker's moved into their own house thus made vacant. John Nevil moved on the Baker farm which he and Louis will farm next year. Oscar Tellgren's moved into the downstairs of Mrs. Lawrence's hours and Frank Johnson moved into the house where they lived and Peter Buller and family will move into the house at old Kiron where they lived and Albin Buller will operate the Peter Buller farm this. Mrs. Goodrich will move to Denison Friday to take charge of her new grocery and Levi Anderson has rented her house and expects to move there.

The following shipped stock to Chicago Saturday night: George Benedict & Son 2 cars cattle and 1 car hogs, Shipping association 2 cars hogs, N. P. Swanson car hogs.

Mrs. Tangborn of Boyer and Mr. and Mrs. H. Boeck of Schleswig were Kiron shoppers Monday.

Viola Bendixon of Schleswig was a visitor here on business Saturday.

Mrs. Garner will entertain the Coffee club this afternoon.

Mrs. Garner and N. Florence Johnson were Denison visitors on Monday.

We have M. A. Sandstroms to thank for a nice big rooster for our last Sunday's dinner.

Edwin G. Johnson went to Sioux City Thursday and Florence Mae Johnson helped in the store in his absence. Monday he went to Des Moines for a couple days and visited Gust Sanders at Lanyon on his way home. Lulu Larson helps in the store in his absence.

Sidney Dolk came out from Omaha yesterday.

The various ice houses are being filled this week, several cars of ice being shipped from Lake View

The solicitor for the Omaha Printing Co., was doing business in Kiron yesterday.

It is reported that Alfred Larson is not gaining as well as was hoped last week.

Mrs. J. E. Mauritz and Lulu Larson returned from their trip to Minneapolis last Friday.

Harvey Keller was up from Denison both Monday and Tuesday.

We are glad to have Arlene Ecklund and Bernice Larson in school again.

Kermit Benson was absent last Thursday and Friday.

Mrs. Martin Lundell and Bernice Clauson visited school last Wednesday and Rev. Peterson Thursday.

Last Thursday the following 8 basketball girls received letters given by the school and presented by Miss Ogren: Mabel Clauson, Alice and Francis Miller, Luella Mauritz, Cora Larson, Genevieve Paulson, Fern Johnson and Mabel Cedergren who also received a star for captancy. When Miss Ogren mentioned that the Seniors would not be with us another year you should hear the Freshies and Juniors clap. That's all right. Perhaps the seniors are glad to go.

Marvin Sederberg was absent Thursday pm because of sickness.

Miss Nelson was absent Monday and Tuesday because of the death of her grandfather, A. H. Nelson.

Anna Schultz has the measles and is out of school this week.

Because of sickness and cold weather the attendance has been lowered considerably. However practically all are back in school and the attendance and punctuality are about normal again. The ones neither absent for the period just ended are: grades - Melvin and Grace moline, Thos. Stricker, Roy, Russell and Lowell Sederberg, Winona, Georgia and Bernard Grow, Myron and Harriet Miller, Marion and Adelaine Peterson, Lenora and Lloyd Benson, Lowell Clauson, Fern Johnson, Dwight Paulson, Paul and Ruth Cedergren, High School - Genevieve Paulson, Harold Lindberg, Marcella Goodrich, Carrol Larson, Cedric Peterson, Bernice, Myrtle and Fern Johnson, Mable and Francis Cedergren, Julia Lindstrom, Mabel and Newell Clauson, Sullivan Waldemar, Margart Nordell, Luella Mauritz.

Will Strahn of Vermillion, S. D. came Monday to visit his mother Mrs. P. A. Johnson. Mr. Strahn was in business here 14 years ago.

Alfred O. Larson wishes, through the columns of The News, to thank all who in so many ways helped during his long siege of sickness. He has recovered sufficiently to get around pretty fairly comfortably now, but cannot forget nor does he wish to, the various acts to help, and wishes for his welfare or sympathy extended both to himself and wife during the many weeks he was so ill.

N. W. Irwin and Ole Schrooten were Sioux City visitors Thursday.

Frances Miller will attend summer school at Sac City, beginning June 4.

J. L. Lundberg has some imported brick layers altering the front of his building.

Mrs. G. A. Norelius pleasantly entertained the Coffee Club Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. R. W. Amies of St. Joe, Mo., came Monday to see her mother Mrs. P. A. Johnson.

Albert Carlson and son of Worthington, Minnesota, was a business visitor here Saturday.

Mrs. M. E. Lundell, Mrs. McConaha and Osen Gustafson were Sioux City visitors Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hansen have moved to Kansas City, where he has a position as salesman.

E. L. Kunkle left Monday for his summer vacation. His first stopping place will probably be Cedar Rapids.

The Home Library Club meets at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Frahm Saturday afternoon, May 31.

The Misses Evelyn and Judith Swanson and Ed Milburn went to Sioux City Saturday, returning Tuesday.

Marian Peterson left Monday morning for Omaha to make the acquaintance of her niece Phyllis Carlson.

Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Johnson entertained the Kiron school teachers at a 6 o'clock dinner Tuesday evening of last week.

Lillian Dahlstrom, Evelyn Wright and Marie Waggoner of Odebolt visited the Tenor Buller home in Old Kiron Sunday.

The daily papers report large catches of and large fish caught at the various lakes and rivers in Iowa this spring.

Mrs. Maude O'Donnell returned Monday from Vermillion, S. D. where she spent a few days visiting her niece, Fern Johnson.

This section was visited by a hard frost Friday night. In the low places it is said to have frozen water as thick as a knife blade.

Dick Quade, Angy Swede and David Lundberg accompanied Watson over into Hamilton county, where they will work on a bridge near Stratford.

Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Corrigan, daughters Ethel and Edith, and niece Bernice Merriman of Des Moines visited the Grow family Sunday.

Gladys and Royle Nelson and Ruth Peterson attended the alumni banquet at Denison given by the Alumni association which was recently reorganized.

There was a surprise party given at the Mrs. C. A. Larson home Thursday evening in honor of Messrs Kunkle and Stiteley who have been making their home there during the school year. Refreshments were served after a long evening of social intercourse. A most pleasant time was passed by a large number of invited guests.

W. J. Stiteley left the first of the week for his home at Mt. Carroll, Illinois.

Thure Linden drove R. F. D. No 1 Monday and Tuesday while Ed was away.

C. B. Larson's and Otto Larson's were at Storm Lake Sunday. They report that the fishing isn't much yet.

Carroll Larson visited the R. Adams home over the weekend.

Rev. Peterson and J. O. Hedstrom returned from the Conference at Sioux City Monday.

Dog strayed away last Saturday. Rat terrier, mostly white, brown head, 2 brown spots on right side. Finder notify Mrs. Margaret Helgren.

C. S. Johnson left Monday for Kansas City to attend to business matters for a few days.

At a recent republican caucus held, the following township candidates were launched: For Trustees, Frank Ogren, Glenn Goetzch, for assessor John Lind, for clerk E.. E. Clauson, constable Albert Johnson, for justice of peace, O. E. Clauson.

Mr. Munson of Craig, Nebraska was a guest at the P. A. Peterson home this week.

Rev. Earnest Brown of the Omaha Mission Tabernacle came to Kiron Saturday and filled the Mission church in the morning and the Baptist church in the evening in the absence of the regular pastors. Rev. Brown is a young student who is preparing for gospel work in the foreign fields. His gospel messages here was listened to and enjoyed by good audiences.

Ray Lindquist who was visiting here last week has returned to his home in Long Beach, California.

Fred W. Lyon, candidate for nomination for recorder on the republican ticket subject to the June primaries was in town yesterday 'candidating' as by this time next week the die will be cast. While we don't know any of the merits of candidates we sort of like the looks of this one and think he would be as good a man as they could get for the office.

Rev. Paul Meyers is expected home the latter part of the week from his trip to Meridan, Rembrandt, Albert City in this state and Oakland, Nebraska.

T. G. Jensen, Thomas Thomsen, Niels Mortensen, Sorn Sornsen of Kimbalton were here the first of the week to interview W. E. Stiteley regarding a position in their school. However, Mr. Stiteley had left that morning so they had their trip in vain.

Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Johnson and Marjorie visited at the Carlberg home at Boyer Sunday.

Kiron business places will be open until 9 o'clock Friday morning, Decoration Day and closed the remainder of the day.

Abbie Lundell went to Omaha this morning and Edna will return with her Thursday night to spend Decoration day.

Bert Lindstrom has a new Chevrolet coupe.

Lorraine Sandstrom was a Schaller visitor Sunday.

Jubal and Ruth Hedstrom and Mrs. Frank Lindquist went to Sioux City Saturday to visit their sister, Mrs. Pearl Lindgren. They returned Monday.
C. S. Johnson, Cedric Peterson and Bernice Johnson went to Sioux City Thursday, C. S. to attend the Baptist conference and Bernice to visit the Joe Hamerstrom home.

G. A. Grow completed a retaining wall in front of Dr. Garner's lot Thursday. It ought to stay as long as Kiron lasts, and makes a nice looking front to the property.

Mrs. Geo. Benedict was called to Cresco the last of the week to attend the funeral of her youngest sister's husband, which occurred Monday. This is three deaths in her family in less than a month, husband, sister, and brother-in-law.

Last Wednesday evening Lorraine Sandstrom gave a party for the students of the Senior class of Denison of which she was a member. The lively bunch filled a whole house and proved that the more the merrier. Ice cream and cake was served and Miss Knight, the history instructress acted as chaperon.

Mrs. Victor Youngquist and children, Albin Youngquist and Miss Jacobson of Gowrie and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Youngquist of Fort Dodge visited at the Mrs. John Winquist home Sunday.

Rev. R. R. Brown of radio fame gave the Commencement address last Wednesday evening to a packed church. The address was a masterpiece and was appreciated by all. Radio fans from as far as Sioux City were in attendance as they could not believe that Kiron was big enough to call such a star.

Mrs. C. E. Johnson and Luverne returned to Omaha Monday after a few days' visit with relatives here. Lorraine, who has been here attending school went home with them. Fern will stay for some time and continue to work in the telephone office.

Mrs. Henry Wareneke and her daughter, Mrs. Carlton, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Iverson and Mr. Iverson's sister from Houston, Texas were callers at the P. G. Lundell home Tuesday. They were enroute to Omaha after visiting relatives at Ida Grove and Odebolt of which they residents many years ago.

The Shipping Association and N. P. Swanson each shipped a car of hogs Saturday.

Rev. and Mrs Nordlander returned from Sioux City Tuesday.

A surprise party was given Russell Ecklund at his home south of town Thursday evening, the occasion being his birthday.

Mr. Stillman, Mrs. Albert Peterson and Nora and Mrs. Enoch Ecklund of Odebolt visited at the Wm. Paulson home last week.

The prayer conference of the Baptist church at Kiron will begin October 9. Rev. R. R. Brown of Omaha will be present October 13 to 16.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wellendorf and Mr. and Mrs. William Wellendorf left Saturday to visit relatives at Sioux Falls and at Lake Preston, S. Dakota.

Elmer Swanson's visited at the Ben Obrecht home at Ida Grove Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Clauson, Mabel and Miss Edna Blackman were entertained at Oscar Johnson's Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bergen left Saturday for Big Spring, S. Dakota where they will visit with relatives for two or three weeks.

The Home library club met at the Elmer Swanson home Saturday.

The young people's class of the Mission church held their monthly meeting Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Loomer.

Charles Bergin came home from Alcester and Big Spring, S. D. the first of last week, returning again Saturday to continue threshing in that state, after which he will return home to stay.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Johnson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Ackerson and family were entertained at the Ed Johnson home Saturday evening.

Mrs. Robert Lewis and son of Sac City and Miss Mabel Ecklund of Omaha came out last week for a visit with their mother Mrs. Lena Ecklund and sister, Mrs. Oscar Finstrom.

The Dorcas society of the Baptist church held their monthly meeting at the Charlie Waldemar home. Mrs. Charles Waldemar and Mrs. Ernest Moline were hostesses.

Miss Mamie Gustafson had a party last Monday evening in honor of her guests, Myrtle Gustafson and Dagmar Anderson of Alta. A delightful evening was spent in playing games after which a delicious lunch was served.

County Agent Allender was in town from Denison Monday.

Miss Alma Nordholm is visiting with her sister, Mrs. Lass at Denison.

N. P. Swanson returned from a business trip to Sioux City Thursday.

Royal Nelson went to Omaha Monday to take some special college work.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Eckman and son Donald autoed to Omaha last Wednesday.

Mrs. John Schayt and Bertha of Clinton are visiting at the W. Shurkie home.

If we could see ourselves as other see us, we'd never speak to them again.

Paul Lundberg of Lincoln, Nebraska visited the parental home the first of the week.

Mrs. Helma Leaf came from St. Paul, Minnesota to make an indefinite stay with her mother Mrs. Palm.

Mr. and Mrs. Jubel Mauritz and Mr. and Mrs. McConaha returned Friday from their visit at Omaha.

P. B. Miller has put in a big new Majestic range of hotel and restaurant size in their kitchen.

Mrs. Hannah Carlson autoed to Denison Saturday to meet Mr. and Mrs. Axel Carlson of Omaha.

Mrs. Agnes Lewis and son of Sac City, who had been visiting here returned to their home Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Ward and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Miller and children visited friends at Bronson Sunday.

Miss Constance Lundell left Sunday evening for Chicago to enter Augustana hospital as student nurse.

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Goetch and son autoed to magnolia Wednesday for a visit with friends and relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Peterson and daughter Marion autoed to Omaha Saturday for a visit with their daughter, Mrs. Philip Carlson.

Its! all wrong! The Dempsey-Firpo fight lasted fifteen minutes and took in $1,000,000; the Olympic contests lasted a month and drew only $361,900 and the World War lasted four years and ran up a deficit.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Paulson and family together with some friends from Odebolt drove to Pomeroy Sunday to visit for a short time. Mr. Paulson says it was a beautiful drive and that he thinks Iowa has many beautiful spots of scenery, including the Twin Lakes, which they had never visited before.

Mrs. Joseph Mattes and Geo. Mattes of Odebolt were in attendance at the annual meeting of the Kiron State Bank Tuesday.

The annual meeting of the Kiron State bank was held Tuesday afternoon. The usual semi-annual dividend was declared and the same officers were elected. For the first time in 20 years Vice President Joseph Mattes was unable to attend on account of illness. The bank is in a healthy condition and is making a steady growth.

So far this year the coroner's office has cost the tax payers $19. This certainly is remarkable when so many cases have been handled by the coroner. No unnecessary inquest is held to pile up expenses on the tax payers and in nearly every case coroners fees have been collected from the estate to save the taxpayers, something that has not been done by preceding coroners. The taxpayers should consider these facts when election day comes.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell Linman and daughter, Marjorie, left Friday to be gone for a week visiting different points in Minnesota.

Mr. and Mrs. Geo Lundell entertained the John Baker, Raymond Larson, M. E. Lundell and E. N. Sandstrom families to dinner last Sunday.

Ole Schrooten has severed his relations with the Standard Oil Co and at present they have no driver here.

Mesdames J. J. Schultz of Dike and John Schultz of Stratmore, Canada made a short call here on Tuesday, enroute to Schleswig to visit their sister, Mrs. Lyon.

Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Lundell, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Sandstrom spent last week end in Omaha.

Cedric Peterson and Carl Sailor motored to Worthington, Minnesota last Friday visiting relatives of Cedric. They returned Sunday evening.

There was a large attendance at the ladies society meeting at C. N. Waldemers last Friday. The threshing crew was too busy to take in the service but they availed themselves of the refreshments, however, leaving shortly for the next job.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Clauson, Mrs. Leslie Clauson and baby, Mrs. Roy Swanson and Mrs. Cedergren autoed to Storm lake last Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ward, daughter Bernice and two sons of Isanti, Minnesota are visiting friends and relatives at Schaller, Storm Lake and his brother, H. L. and wife here.

Harry and Alice Reed were Denison visitors Friday.

Edna Lundell came out from Omaha for the week end.

Rev. Myers returned Monday from attending conference.

Minnie Tellgren went to Omaha on Monday for a few days visit.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Lindberg, a daughter, October 11, 1924.

Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Johnson and family of Bronson visited friends here Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Norelius of Ida Grove spent Saturday and Sunday with home folks.

Evelyn Johnson is teaching for Janette Cedargren while she is in the hospital.

Mrs. Carlson of Stratford was entertained at the Oscar Johnson home Saturday.

The teachers of the Kiron school attended the teacher's institute held at Denison last week.

Charlie Bergin and John Larson of Alcester, So. Dak., went to Chicago with stock Saturday.

The P.T.A. meeting will be Tuesday evening, Oct. 21.

There was no school last Thursday and Friday because of the Teachers' Institute at Denison.

The per cent of attendance for the primary grades was 98 per cent. for the intermediate grades was 66 2/3 per cent, for the grammar graded 99 per cent, for the high school 99 per cent.

Miss Janette Cedergren, teacher of the intermediate grades, was taken to Ida Grove hospital Saturday where she was operated upon for appenditis. Miss Evelyn Johnson is substituting for her.

Maxine Larson was on the sick list last week.

So far none of the parents have visited school. Parents show your children that you are interested in their work and the school.

A week ago Saturday the H. H. girls basket ball team defeated the town team 6-4.

Next Friday the Vail boys and girls teams are coming up to win or lose -- which? Show your interest and support and it will be the latter.

Tuesday evening. October 7, both of the KHS basket ball teams were defeated at Soldier. Kiron realized they were tackling some more experienced teams so the defeat did not discourage them.

Many of the high school students have ordered purple and gold neckties which are the high school colors.

A new basket ball has just been received and is now being shown its "why for."

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Paulson and Florence visited in Denison Monday.

Herman Grell's of Ida Grove visited in Kiron Sunday.

David Peterson of Lake Park is visiting friends here for a few days.

J. B. Barborka and family of Denison and John Kovar and family of Missouri Valley spent Sunday at the C. W. Nelson home north of town.

Miss Fern Johnson came out from Omaha Sunday to spend a few days with relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sievers and son Arnold of Denison attended the conference here last Friday.

John Larson of Alcester came Saturday and went to Chicago Saturday night with Chas. Bergin.

Mr. and Mrs. Erick Larson and two sons Glennard and Gordon of Sioux City came out Sunday to attend the conference.

Mr. and Mrs. Swanson and Leslie, Mrs. Elmer Swanson and son Gage went to Sioux City Sunday to visit with relatives.

Miss Emma Reissen of Schleswig returned home last Friday after a pleasant visit at the Willie Shurke home west of town.

Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Johnson and Mrs. F. G. Johnson were in Sioux City Sunday. The two ladies remained for a few days visit.

The Auxillary had a winnie roast at the Francis Norelius home last Tuesday evening. The members of the legion were also present.

The nurse who has been caring for Ruthie Larson has departed. Ruthie is convalescing nicely now and able to be about the house.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Danielson, Jr., and Ruth Glad and Mrs. Gust Carlson went to Spencer and Marathon Monday for a couple days visit.

Mrs. Fred Carlson and son Vitus autoed to Lawton Saturday to spend the week-end at the Anvy Bloom and Sanford Larson homes at Lawton.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hewitt and son, and Mrs. William Hewitt and Miss Ruby Huston of Lyle, Minnesota visited over the week-end at R. H. Hewitt's.

The Ladies Aid of the Mission church held their meeting at the church last Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Stricker and Mrs. Oscar Sederberg were hostesses.

Miss Janette Cedergren was taken sick with appendicitis Saturday and was taken to the Ida Grove hospital for an operation. She was operated on Saturday evening and is getting along fine. Her mother is with her.

We saw Mac Milburn while in Denison Monday. He is suffering with a sprained ankle from falling down the hay chute at the home of his brother-in-law, Hans Broderson, a couple of weeks ago.

Mr. and Mrs. August Waldemar and Phoebe and Arnold of Pisgah, and Mr. and Mrs. Art Case of Panama came out Saturday to spend the week end with relatives and attend the conference.

Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Norelius and daughter Jessie, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Morton and children and Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Ward were entertained at a six o'clock dinner at the Everett Norelius home at Ida Grove last Friday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Axel Johnston of Omaha who are visiting at the Glen Goetch home together with Mrs. Hannah Carlson visited last Wednesday and Thursday at the John Larson home at Odebolt and Herbert Tunberg home at Arthur.

Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Linden of Odebolt were visiting friends in Kiron Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Linden were until a few years ago residents a few miles north and Kiron was the "old home town" to them. They reared their family on the old home place where Jules now lives and while we don't know the rest, judging the others by Thure and Jules, we think they did a good job.

The following were the stock shipments Saturday night: Shipping Association, 2 cars hogs; J. P. Turin, 1 car cattle; Charles Bergin, 3 cars cattle.

Willie A. Johnson came home last Thursday morning for a few weeks visit at the home of his mother, Mrs. Susan Johnson. He left Chefoo, China July 30, and reached San Diego, Cal, Aug 20. Leaving there September 10 on the U.E.E. "Henderson" he came by the way of the Panama Canal and up the Atlantic coast to Hampton Roads, Va, which he reached September 30.

Mr. Johnson has been with the U.S.S. "John D. Ford" for some time as chief torpedo man. Two years ago last summer the "Ford" left from Philadelphia for the Asiatic Station, going via Gibraltar, Algiers and the Suez canal, while at Isthmalia, Suez canal, Mr. Johnson had the privilege of going up to Cairo, Egypt and out to see some of the pyramids and the Sphinx. During his stay in the Orient he has visited Manila, Java, Yokohama, Hongkong, Shanghai, Chefoo, Dareen, Peking and other places of interest.

The "Ford" was one of the two U.S. destroyers sent last spring to Paramachuri, 1300 miles north of Yokohama to bring supplies and be of assistance to our army planes on their round the world flight. From there these destroyers came with the planes to Yokohoma and Shanghai.

Mr. Johnson has been designated for service at the torpedo training station, Newport, R. I. at the expiration of his furlough.

Mrs. Clara and Axel Witzell of Omaha attended the prayer conference and visited the Rev. Lovine home last week.

G. A. Grow did some mason work on the Johnson Bros. Farm near Hayes Center, Friday and was greatly taken with their herd of Black Aberdeen Angus cattle. They have some of the best bred of the breed and have all sizes and ages from pretty black calves to herd bulls worth a small fortune. They also have a fine herd of Poland China hogs - 5 sows that farrowed 52 pigs this fall.

Rev. E. J. Nordlander went to Youngstown, Ohio last Thursday on a business trip.

S. A. Nordholm is quite sick, being confined to his home and under the care of the doctor.

Nettie Winquist visited at the Elmer Carlberg home all last week.

Mrs. N. W. Irwin and little son came up from California Junction Saturday noon, returning with Mr. Irwin that evening. Mr. Irwin has accepted a position with a bank at Hamberg as cashier and will probably make his home there.

Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Ward, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Norelius and Miss Elsie Norelius were entertained at the John W. Nelson home last Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Morton entertained Dr. and Mrs. H. D. Jones of Schleswig, Mr. and Mrs. Everet Norelius of Ida Grove and Dr. and Mrs. Garner last Sunday evening.

W. J. Sandberg and G. W. Norelius were business visitors at Odebolt Monday morning.

C. B. Larson is going to have a Thanksgiving out of the ordinary this year. He received a box with five long tailed pheasants from friends in South Dakota Saturday.

We made a slight error in the age of Mr. A. Norelius 2 weeks ago in the item regarding the oldest voter here. Mr. Norelius was 94 years, 4 months, 4 days old, being born in July 1830.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Rue Waldemer, Wednesday, Nov. 19, a girl.

Revs. Peterson and Lovene returned Monday from the convention in Des Moines.

The boys and girls basketball teams were at Ida Grove Friday evening and played the Ida Grove teams. The boys were the lucky winners while the girls were the peppy losers.

Fred Baker has succumbed to the fever and put in a radio at his home.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm Hanson moved to Denison Tuesday. Mrs. Fred Quade is visiting them today.

Pearl Buller expects to go to Omaha tomorrow for a few days visit.

During the past two weeks over 12 tons of poultry have been brought into Kiron market and several thousand dollars was circulated in payment for same.
