My FarMors - Lundbergs

This is the farm house built in the 1870's by grandpa Axel Lundberg on their 160 acre farm in the southwest quarter of section 31 in Wheeler township in Sac county in Iowa.  Axel and his wife Mathilda lived in this house until around 1917 when they moved to Kiron.  Then his youngest daughter, Mamie who had married Marvin Snare, lived in the house for a few years.  After the death of Axel and Mathilda, two of the son-in-laws bought the farm. In 1934, grandson Ernest Gustafson married and moved on this farm.  Three of his children were born here.  They left this farm in 1943 after purchasing the Julius Johnson farm in Stockholm township.

In 1975 we made a trip to visit Sweden.  At that time we had heard that Nikolas Lindblad's family had come to America from Ingatorp socken and Axel Lundberg's family was from Rumskulla socken in Småland Sweden but we didn't have any further details about the family.  The two parishes adjoin.  We picked up this postcard which says that this is a scene of the Ingatorp church.  We did not get to stop and visit in this village at that time.  We are planning to make a return visit to see and enjoy what we missed in 1975.

Axel would be proud of his grand daughter Janet if he could see this family picture.  Posing here in 1999 are Curt, Kevin, Duane, Kurt, Ryan, Micah, Heather, Janet, Michelle, Janet, Tammy, Kyle, Isaac, Hannah, Rachel, Sarah, Lanae, and Travis.

Herb, Karen, Wyatt and Chad are keeping the Lundberg name alive.  They are continuing in the footsteps of Axel, Hilder, and Oscar Lundberg.

Wyatt (22) and Chad (20) Lundberg remind us what Iowa winters are all about.  Go boys, go!  The metal well pump brings back all those memories of pumping water for 100 screaming cattle in temperatures below zero.  I believe that's what they call 'those good old days'!
