First Patents of Land in Madison County, Va; Germanna Colonies Map.

The dimensions of this graphics file are 3139 X 2331 pixels; its size is 131,039 bytes and will take less than 1 minute to download using a 28,800 modem.  I have placed it on this web page at 1562 X 1202 pixels to make it easier to pan through it and see it all.  I tried using a smaller-dimensioned file, but the resolution is terrible.  If you download it, you will also have to pan to see all of it in high resolution; or you can show it at 1:2 or 1:3 reduced size to see it all.  To print and retain the high resolution (720 dpi) keep the file at its present size and use 'Page Setup' in your graphics viewer to 'center' the printout, 'maintain aspect ratio', and 'use full page'

To see the text file explaining the Patents, click here.  It covers some of the problems of plotting the land holdings covered by the Patents, and especially the Patent of John BROYLES (Johannes BREYHEL), our original immigrant ancestor.
