Some researchers believe that the son of David and Mary “Maza” Phillips named Moses was actually Moses A. Davidson (not Moses V. Davidson). In addition, some researchers believe that the Solomon Davidson who married Christina Crawford was the son of David and Maza, and that the Solomon Davidson (born in NC) who married a Drucilla was a different man. As of Nov 2007, a search on the internet for this couple will provide a link to a chart that shows their sons as a Solomon Davidson and a Moses V. Davidson. It appears, however, that these two men were NOT the “correct” Solomon and Moses (and they may not have even been related to David and Maza).
David Davidson (died about 1822) and his wife Maza both submitted Rev. War pension applications (she submitted an application as a widow, after David had died), and the names of the children were provided in those applications. There was a man named Moses A. Davidson from VA (born about 1812), and he married Mary “Polly” Ramsey in the Pittsylvania Co., VA in the 1830s.
It seems almost certain that he was the actual/correct son of David and Maza. There was also a Solomon Davidson from VA who married Christina Crawford, and he was also apparently the actual/correct son of David and Maza. The children of David and Maza (Phillips) Davidson were:
1. Rebecca (Davidson) Loyd, born about 1793
2. Mary “Polly” (Davidson) Jenkins, born about 1797
3. Lucy (Davidson) Jenkins, born about 1800
