He wishes to be admitted to become a citizen of the United States

from - Ancestry.com lists the names of immigrants who took the oath of allegiance to the province and state of Pennsylvania from 1727-1775. All males over sixteen years of age were obliged to take this oath and declaration, as soon after their arrival as possible. Each entry includes the individual's name, age, place of nationality, and occupation. Taking an oath of allegiance was a process undergone during early colonial emigration. In this oath, immigrants declared they would be faithful to King George II. Bibliography: Egle, William Henry. 1798 Jun 12 Richard DAVISON: Petition to become a citizen of the United States to the Honorable Richard Peters Esq., Judge of the District Court of the US in & for the PA district. Richard Davison had resided within the limits and under the jurisidiction of the United States for three years now last past and upwards and one year thereof within the state of PA, that he was actually a resident on the 29 Jan 1795 within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States, that he wishes to become a citizen of the United States he therefore humbly prays that on this taking the OATH, making the proofs and complying with the items prescribed by law he may be admitted to become a citizen of the said United States. William Stephens Esq., Member of the House of Representatives of the United States from Massachusetts on his oath declares that he has been well acquainted with Richard Davidson for the space of two years and upwards, during which time he has been a man of good moral character

a native of Ireland age 33 years now residing in the city of Philadelphia in the commonwealth of PA, being duly sworn according to law, deposeth and saith that it is bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce for ever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, state or soverenity whatever, and particularly to the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, of whom he is now a subject.
