Gable Family of the South
-Henry Gable (b. 17 July 1773)

Clifford Merck suggests, 10 October 1999, that Henry Gable (born 17 July 1773)
may have been the son of Harmon Gable, not immigrant John Gable

Who has proof that Henry Gable Sr. (17 Jul 1773) is the son of John Henry Gable (1722)? There is none in "The Gable Vol." by Zelma Price. Has any one seen a will? Land records? Census? Any thing that says John Henry Gable had a son Henry born about 1773?

The will of Harmon Gable (abt 1750) show his first born son to be a Henry. The 1790 census of Abbeville Distr. shows the first born to be "16 and older" (born before 1774). There are Land records (Sales and Grants) which show Harmon Gable and Rosannah Merck married before 1773. Henry Gable Sr.(1773), was his mother 48+ years of age at his birth? Even older at the birth of Elizabeth Gable? Did Loduska have two groups of children? Almost twenty years apart?

It don't add up to me. How about you, Carl? We need some proof that Henry is the son of John Henry Gable (1722)..

OK Jump on me...
