    Know all men by these presents, that I, James L. Gable, in the State aforesaid, County of Anderson in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred dollars to me in hand paid at and before the sealing of these Presents by Tabitha P. Whitman of the county and state aforesaid (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) have granted, bargained, sold and release, and by these Presents Do Grant, bargain, seal and release unto the said Tabitha P. Whitman all that certain piece, parcel or tract of land, in Hall Township, county and state aforesaid and containing Fifty-two and one-half acres, more or less. The said tract of land, situated, lying and being on what is known as the Price Branch waters of Jordan Creek, and adjoining lands of James L. Gable, and James W. McPharl and known as the Old Home Place of the said James L. Gable

    together with all and singular the Rights, Members, Hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in anywise incident or appertaining.

    To Have and to Hold, all singular the said premises before mentioned unto the said Tabitha P. Whitman, her heirs and assigns, against myself and my heirs, and against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming, or to claim the same, or any part thereof.

    Witness my hand and Seal, this Fifteenth day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Five and in the One Hundred and Tenth year of the Sovereignty and Independence of the United States of America.

    Personally appeared before me, S. A. Purdy, and made a oath that he saw the within named James L. Gable sign, seal and as his Act and Deed, deliver the within written deed, and that the with A. M. Walters witnessed the execution thereof.

    I, W. E. Walters, Trial Justice in for County and State aforesaid, do hereby certify unto all whom it may concern, that Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gable, wife of the within named, James L. Gable, did this day appear before me and upon being privately and separately examined by me did, declare that she does, freely, voluntarily and without any compulsion, dread, or fear of any person or persons whomsoever renounce, release and forever relinquish unto the within named Tabitha P. Whitman, her Heirs and assigns all her interest and Estate, and also all her right and claim of Dower, of in or to all and singular the premises within mentioned and released.
