    Last Will and Testament of Harmon Gable [Jr.] dated 1 June 1878, filed Edgefield County, SC, records, 28 July 1884, Will Book 5, Page 5181509 [?]:

    In the name of God, amen, I, Harmon Gable of County of Edgefield, in the State of South Carolina, being in good bodily health, and of sound and disposing mind and memory, calling to mind the frailty and uncertainty of human life, and being desirous of settling my worldly affairs, and directing how the Estate with which it has pleased God to bless me, shall be disposed after my decease while I have strength & capacity so to do, do make and publish this my last will and Testament, hereby revoking and making null and void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. And, first, I commend my immortal being to Him who gave it, and my body to the earth to be buried with little expense or ostentation by my executors hereinafter named.

    And as to my worldly estate and all the property, real, personal, or mixed of which I shall die seized and possessed [illegible] to which I shall be entitled at the time of my decease, I devise, bequeath and dispose thereof in the manner following, to wit:

    Item primis. My will is that all my just debts and funeral charges shall by my Executors hereinafter named by paid out of my Estate, as soon after my decease as shall be found by them convenient.

    Item. My will is that the following of the children of my first marriage,to wit, Elizabeth Raucher [sp?] (or her heirs), John Gable, Philip Gable, Margaret Mims [sp?], William Gable (or his heirs) Eliza Smith, James W. Gable and Joseph Gable of my last marriage. shall be each paid the Sum of Five Dollars out of the proceeds of my Estate by my Executors hereinafter named within twelve months from date of my decease.

    Item. My will is that my Executors hereinafter named after having exposed for sale all my entire estate both real, personal, and mixed (of which sale due notice shall be given, and which also shall be made within twelve months of my decease) and after having paid all my just debts and funeral charges aforesaid, and the devises above named, shall divide the residue of my entire estate equally among my following children, to wit: Mary Cooke (wife of S. B. Cooke) Ann P. Talbert (wife of Thos B. Talbert) Francis H. Gable, Francis A. Keller (wife of Wlt Keller) and Henry P. Gable. This division of my Estate shall be made by my said Executors within twelve months from date of my decease.

    Lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint Francis H. Gable and Thos. B. Talbert to be the Executors of my last will and testament.

    In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the first day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and Seventy Eight.

    The foregoing instrument of one leaf was now here subscribed by Harmon Gable, the testator, in the presence of each of us, and was at the same time declared by him to be his last will and testament, and we at his request sign our names hereto as attesting witnesses.
