Civil War Union Furrs

Civil War Union Furrs

Most of the soldiers with the Furr Surname who served in the American Civil War fought for the Confederate States of America (approximately 155). However, at least 33 Furrs served in Union or Yankee units.  Most of these Furrs appear to be descendants of the original Virginia Furr line, many of whom had moved to Illinois, Iowa, and Ohio.  Two of these Yankee Furrs were apparently colored since they served with the United States Colored Troops. Additions to this list are welcomed.
