Generation Six

147. ABIGAIL6 SILLOWAY (1051) (Abigail5 Sleeper, Elizabeth4 Fifield, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 11 Jun 1753 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR.). 156. JONATHAN BEAN6 FIFIELD (1117) (Mehitable5 Bean, Shuah4 Fifield, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 22 Aug 1779. He married Sarah (Sally) Pinkham (1118), daughter of Abijah Pinkham (25259) and Sarah Spencer (25260), on 28 Nov 1805 in Durham, Strafford, N.H (NHVR,: Strafford County records give Sally's birth date as 8 July 1789.). He died on 25 Jul 1860 in Woodstock, Grafton, N.H., at age 80 (Ibid., Age given as 75,-,-.). He was buried in Woodstock, Grafton, N.H.
The census records for Salisbury NH from 1790 through 1820 indicate to me that Benjamin Fifield and Mehitable Bean did, contrary to Sheppard, have children. Jonathan's birth date is per several histories found by his descendant Barbara Stover.

Children of Jonathan Bean6 Fifield (1117) and Sarah (Sally) Pinkham (1118) were as follows:
157. NATHANIEL6 FIFIELD (2476) (Mehitable5 Bean, Shuah4 Fifield, John3, Benjamin2, William1) (MAVR.) (Ibid.) was born circa Feb 1785 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H (1850 U. S. Federal Census Salisbury, Essex, Mass; page 019 1 June 1850.) (MAVR,: 129:181; born Salisbury, N.H; parents Benjamin & Mehitable; age 74 years 7 months.). He married Lois Lowell (2477), daughter of Simon Lowell (26961) and Anna Wadleigh (26962), on 5 Feb 1809 in Salisbury, Essex, Mass (Latter Day Saints, Vital Records Index, North America., CD-ROM (Salt Lake City, UT: Latter Day Saints, 1998), Vital Records of North America, FHL number 890245/6, recorded in Salisbury, Essex, MA. Hereinafter cited as LDS North America.). He married Lois Lowell (2477), daughter of Simon Lowell (26961) and Anna Wadleigh (26962), on 8 Feb 1809 in Salisbury, Essex, Mass (Topsfield Historical Society, Vital Records of Salisbury, Massachusetts to the end of the year 1849 (Topsfield, Mass: Topsfield Historical Society, 1915), Volume I page 351. Hereinafter cited as Salisbury Mass VR.). He died on 14 Sep 1859 in Salisbury, Essex, Mass (MAVR,: 129:181; born Salisbury, N.H; parents Benjamin & Mehitable; age 74 years 7 months.). He was buried in Salisbury Point Burying Ground, Amesbury, Essex, Mass (FAG, online unknown url, Memorial #115114725.).
He appeared on the census of 1850 in Salisbury, Essex, Mass (1850 U. S. Federal Census Salisbury, Essex, Mass; page 019 1 June 1850.); Nathaniel and Lois appear in the 1850 census in Salisbury, MA with Nathaniel Jr., age 14, in the house. This is most probably their grandson by Albert.

Children of Nathaniel6 Fifield (2476) and Lois Lowell (2477) both born in Salisbury, Essex, Mass, were as follows:
158. JOHN6 FIFIELD (3593) (Mehitable5 Bean, Shuah4 Fifield, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa Jul 1787 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H. He married Sarah Carr (3594) on 2 Dec 1813 in Chelsea, Orange, Vermont (Vermont Vital Records,: John's residence given as Salisbury NH.). He died on 27 Nov 1865 (Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460, Woodstock NH by Route 3 - died age 78.); Died age 78 years 4 months (headstone). He was buried in Woodstock, Grafton, N.H.
John's death and age are from his headstone. The place of birth was given by his son Herod in his marriage record. According to Barbara Stover, a descendant of Jonathan Bean Fifield of Woodstock, John and Jonathan were brothers. Thus, John and Jonathan are likely two of the sons of Mehitable Bean and Benjamin Fifield that show in the early census records of Salisbury. John apparently had numerous daughters. The 1840 census shows 4 females in addition to his wife. In the County Home section of the cemetery in North Haverhill is Charlotte Fifield, died 1n 1890 age 69, born Thornton. Since John was the only Fifield I know of in Thornton, I have assigned Charlotte to him. Similarly, the Sanborn genealogy gives the marriage of Caroline to Smith Fifield of Thornton NH. John C. Fifield was in the NH Militia in the Thornton/Peeling area; commisioned Adjutant on 4/17/37, discharged 8/1/39. He was warned out of Washington, Orange, Vermont, 30 Jun 1814 (Rollins, Vermont Warnings, Page 264.); John and whole family. He witnessed the warned out of Benaiah B(ean?) Fifield (5921) on 30 Jun 1814 in Washington, Orange, Vermont (Ibid.). He was warned out of Chelsea, Orange, Vermont, 25 Dec 1815 (Ibid., Page 215.).

Children of John6 Fifield (3593) and Sarah Carr (3594) were as follows:
159. MEHITABLE6 FIFIELD (1442) (Mehitable5 Bean, Shuah4 Fifield, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1790; Appears in 1790 census? Husband born 1789. She married O. Israel Bean (1423), son of Phineas Bean (11990) and Judith Snow (24842), in Dec 1823 (Dearborn, Dearborn's Salisbury, Page 472.). She died in 1836 (Ibid.).

Children of Mehitable6 Fifield (1442) and O. Israel Bean (1423) were as follows:
160. CHARLES6 FIFIELD (3846) (Mehitable5 Bean, Shuah4 Fifield, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born in 1791 ("regular" infantry War of 1812 service records, NARA M233 microfilms, roll 5, War of 1812 service records, "regular" infantry., M233 Roll 5 (Washington, D.C.: NARA). Hereinafter cited as 1812 Service Records.); Age 23 at enlistment for War of 1812. He married Elizabeth Webster (3847) on 5 Jun 1812 in Springfield, Cheshire, N.H (NHVR,: No further information in the record.). He died before 10 Apr 1824 in Springfield, Cheshire, N.H (Newspaper notice or article or equivalent., Haverhill Gazette, 10 April 1824.); Charles Fifield, age 33, killed while felling a tree in Springfield. A felled tree left a branch in a nearby tree, when Charles was cutting the second tree the branch fell on him and penetrated his skull.
Note that Jonathan of Woodstock named his eldest daughter Mehitable and his eldest son Charles. Charles was resident and taxed in Wilmot at the same time as John and Benaiah. He began military service on 18 Feb 1814 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H (War of 1812 service records, 1812 Service Records, M233 Roll 5.); 40th U.S. Infantry, Captain M.N. Sanborn, Col. Joseph Loving, Jr. 5 feet 7 1/2 inches height, blue eyes, light hair, dark complexion. Farmer. He ended military service on 21 Apr 1815 in Fort Constitution, N.H (Ibid.). He purchased on 14 Sep 1818 in Twp 11N Range 1E NW Section, 48, Illinois.

Children of Charles6 Fifield (3846) and Elizabeth Webster (3847) were:
161. BENAIAH B(EAN?)6 FIFIELD (5921) (Mehitable5 Bean, Shuah4 Fifield, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1792 in N.H. He married Mary (Polly) Clay (5988) circa 1815. He married Eleanor Gibbs (5922) circa 1830 in McLean, Indiana. He died before 1 Jun 1880 (1870 U. S. Federal Census Beniah appears in Leroy, McLean co. IL 1 June 1870.) (1880 U. S. Federal Census Does not appear in 1880 census 1 June 1880.).
There is a marriage record in NHVR for Hiram Fifield, second marriage in 1875, age 58, father Benaiah Fifield born Salisbury MA, mother Mary Clay. John and Benaiah Fifield 'of Wilmot' bought and sold land together there in 1816 (Hillsboro co. deeds book 115 pages 565 and 567.). He witnessed the warned out of John Fifield (3593) on 30 Jun 1814 in Washington, Orange, Vermont (Rollins, Vermont Warnings, Page 264.); John and whole family. He was warned out of Washington, Orange, Vermont, 30 Jun 1814 (Ibid.). He on 1 Nov 1830 in Hamilton, Ohio (Bounty land claim or record , Purchased 83.2 acres out of the Cincinnati Land Office, W 1/2 SE, Section 10, Township 5N, Range 2 W., reference document 1446, Volume 260, Page 392, co-patentee Evert Clindinin Bureau of Land Management, Washington, D.C.).

Children of Benaiah B(ean?)6 Fifield (5921) and Mary (Polly) Clay (5988) were as follows:

Children of Benaiah B(ean?)6 Fifield (5921) and Eleanor Gibbs (5922) were as follows:
162. JEREMIAH6 FIFIELD (1427) (William5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 20 Mar 1779 in Concord, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as William and Dorothy Eastman.). He on 19 Jun 1803 in Gardiner, Kennebec, Maine (Henry Sewall Webster, editor, Gardiner Maine Vital Records to the Year 1892 (two volumes, Births, and Marriages/Deaths). (Gardiner, Maine: Journal Reporter Press, 1915), Page 286. Hereinafter cited as Gardiner ME VR.).
Jeremiah removed West according to the History of Salisbury. However, the naming pattern of his children combined with his age and birthplace provide a decent match with the Jeremiah that ended up in Maine. While I have no proof that they were the same person, it is as logical an assignment as any based on current knowledge.

Children of Jeremiah6 Fifield (1427) and Lucy Longley (6516) were as follows:
163. WILLIAM6 FIFIELD (1430) (William5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 24 Oct 1784 in Concord, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as William and Dorothy Eastman.). He married Elizabeth Webster (1431), daughter of Daniel Webster (24921) and Hannah Heath (24922), on 17 Nov 1808 in Plymouth, Grafton, N.H (Ibid., No further information in record.). He died on 1 Feb 1828 in New Hampton, Belknap, N.H., at age 43 (Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460, New Hampton Cemetery Records - died 2-14-1828 ae (42).). He was buried in New Hampton, Belknap, N.H.
He appeared on the census of 1820; William settled in New Hampton. The 1820 census shows two male children and one female under ten years of age in the family. The Genealogy of New Hampton, a typescript document by J. C. Gowan, confuses the children of Enoch and William and assigns three of William's children to Enoch. That they belong to William is proved by the probate records of William's sons Daniel and Henry, both on file at Belknap County. Further, Gowan has the wrong William, as he says the William there is the brother of Enoch.

Children of William6 Fifield (1430) and Elizabeth Webster (1431) were as follows:
164. MOSES6 FIFIELD (1432) (William5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 20 Oct 1786 in Concord, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as William and Dorothy Eastman.). He married Sylvia (Mary?) Warren (1433) before 1816. He died on 27 Nov 1871 in Northfield, Franklin, Mass., at age 85 (MAVR,: Vol 238 page 296.).
He appeared on the census of 1840 in Northfield, Franklin, Mass (Heads of Families at the Sixth Census of the United States taken in the year 1840 1 June 1840.); Moses settled in Northfield, and is in the 1840 census. No children show in the family. The female in the house was born ca. 1800-1810. In the same census there is a Philip in a nearby town, who then appears in Northfield in the 1850 census (Moses is now gone). I suspect that Philip (born about 1816) was a son of Moses, named after his brother who died young. I am assigning Philip to Moses and Sylvia accordingly. The 1865 Massachusetts census (NH Genealogical Record July 1994/October 1995) says Moses age 78 born Concord and Mary W. age 63 born Lyme are in Northfield MA.

Children of Moses6 Fifield (1432) and Sylvia (Mary?) Warren (1433) were:
165. SUSAN6 FIFIELD (1436) (William5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 12 Nov 1793 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H. She married John Robertson (1437) on 6 Aug 1811 in Hopkinton, Hillsborough, N.H (NHVR.). She married Jeremiah Sanborn (1438) on 18 Nov 1849 (Sanborn, Sanborn genealogy, Page 329; gives year of marriage as 1817, but does not appear correct.). She died on 17 Jan 1869 at age 75.
The History of Salisbury NH and the Sanborn genealogy give discrepant information on dates re. Susan and Jeremiah Sanborn.

Children of Susan6 Fifield (1436) and John Robertson (1437) were:

There were no children of Susan6 Fifield (1436) and Jeremiah Sanborn (1438).
166. SALLY6 FIFIELD (1439) (William5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 3 Jan 1796 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H. She married John Rowell Jr. (1440) on 22 May 1817 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H (NHVR.). She died on 5 Jul 1868 at age 72 (Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460, Franklin NH.). She was buried in Franklin, Merrimack, N.H.
She was also known as Sarah Fifield (1439) (NHVR,: Death record of John Hiram Rowell.).

Children of Sally6 Fifield (1439) and John Rowell Jr. (1440) were as follows:
167. GEORGE WASHINGTON6 FIFIELD (1443) (Benjamin5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 15 Jul 1802 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H. He married Mehitable Choate (1444), daughter of Benjamin Choate (10734) and Mehitable Plummer (10735), say 1824. He died on 8 Oct 1867 in Clintonville, Cedar, Missouri, at age 65.
Perhaps the George W. Fifield who married Sarah Jones? (ILVR, online http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/cgi-bin/archives/marriage.s, Ancestry.com, 8 November 2000.).

Children of George Washington6 Fifield (1443) and Mehitable Choate (1444) were as follows:
168. THOMAS HALE6 FIFIELD (1447) (Benjamin5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 15 Jul 1802 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H. He married Alice Carter (1448), daughter of Nathaniel Carter (10100) and Sarah Hoyt (10101), on 24 Jun 1823 (Family of Thomas Hale Fifield, Typed document, Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460.). He married Susan Carter (1449), daughter of Nathaniel Carter (10100) and Sarah Hoyt (10101), on 25 Sep 1845 (Ibid.). He married Calista H. Johnson (1450), daughter of John Johnson (10102) and Abigail Bean Colcord (10103), on 30 Sep 1850 in Enfield, Grafton, N.H (Fifield family tree, Manuscript Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460.); Calista's journal says "I married T. H. Fifield September 30, 1850, at Enfield, N.H., and started the same morning for our Indiana home, and we lived in the silken bonds of matrimony just forty years". He died on 2 Sep 1890 in Valparaiso, Porter, Indiana, at age 88 (Ibid.). He was buried in Valparaiso, Porter, Indiana.
He lived in 1833 in Dorchester, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada (Fifield history of Zacheus Fifield family, Document, 1914, Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460.). Thomas and family appear in Union in the 1850 census Thomas Hale Fifield (1447) moved to Union, Porter, Indiana, 1843 (Ibid.). Children of Thomas Hale6 Fifield (1447) and Alice Carter (1448) were as follows:

There were no children of Thomas Hale6 Fifield (1447) and Susan Carter (1449).

Children of Thomas Hale6 Fifield (1447) and Calista H. Johnson (1450) were:
169. SAMUEL6 FIFIELD (1454) (Paul5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 27 Nov 1791 in Marlborough, Cheshire, N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as Paul and Temperance Furber.). He married Almira Allen (1455), daughter of Ira Levi Allen (7026) and Phoebe Flint (7027), on 7 Sep 1818 in Walpole, Cheshire, N.H (Ibid., No further information in record.). He died on 13 Oct 1871 in Chenango, New York, at age 79. He was buried in Seventh Day Hollow Cemetery, Otselic, Chenango, New York ("Inscriptions from Monuments in the Seventh Day Hollow Cemetery, Otselic, Chenango, N.Y.," Tree Talks, publication of the Central New York Genealogical Society 11 #2 (June 1971): page 79. Hereinafter cited as "Otselic Inscriptions.") (FAG, online unknown url, Memorial #84786582.).
Samuel moved to Otselic, NY. His marriage is reported in NH Vital Records on 7 Sept from Walpole and 21 Sept from Surrey. In 1850 the census shows presumed son Ira living with him. Also in the house is Maria Fifield, age 22, apparently the wife of Ira. She appears with Ira in an adjacent household in the 1860 census.

Children of Samuel6 Fifield (1454) and Almira Allen (1455) were as follows:
170. ASA6 FIFIELD (1456) (Paul5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 11 Apr 1794 in Marlborough, Cheshire, N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as Paul and Temperance Furber.). He married Mehitable Vincent (945), daughter of John Vincent (15953) and Thankful (--?--) (15954), before 1850 (1850 U. S. Federal Census 1 June 1850.); She appears with Silas in the 1850 census. He died on 14 Dec 1876 at age 85 (unknown author Vermont Historical Gazetteer (n.p.: n.pub.), IV:902. Hereinafter cited as Vt Hist. Gaz.).
He was warned out of Bradford, Orange, Vermont, 25 Feb 1814 (Rollins, Vermont Warnings, Silas and wife; 201.). He was warned out of Calais, Washington, Vermont, 9 Aug 1816 (Ibid., Silas and family; 299.). He appeared on the census of 1850 (Probate Washington VT probate. Volume Y, pages 106-108 & 143.); Silas married, had at least 3 daughters and one son, and lived at Plainfield and Worcester, VT. In the 1850 census he appears with his wife in East Montpelier. His birth date is from NH vital records, death date is from Stearns 1908 Genealogy of NH. VT vital records record the marriage of Silas and Polly Kenniston in Chelsea 1/19/1812. Second wife Mehitable spread her estate among Silas, her own nieces, and left her clothing to the children of her husband by his former wife. The following names appeared on the distribution list: Kate Martin Lucinda Townsend Mary A. Goodrich (Vincent descendant?) Maria Sanbornton Laura M. Keith Satira S. Wilds (born Osgood ca. 1843) Grace S. Vincent Hattie S. Vincent Mrs. Clara V. Powers (Vincent descendant) Mrs. A. E. Goss (Vincent descendant) Louise C. Vincent Laura H. Wheeler Nellie C. Lense (Vincent descendant).

182. JAMES6 FIFIELD (947) (Moses5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 18 Jun 1793 in N.H (1860 U. S. Federal Census Heuvelton, St Lawrence, N.Y 1 June 1860.). He married Prissy Barlow (949), daughter of Aaron Barlow Esquire (25141), on 21 Nov 1815 in Bethel, Windsor, Vermont (Vermont Vital Records,: No further information in the record.). He married Sarah H. Woodbury (948) on 3 Nov 1830 in Barre, Rutland, Mass (unknown compiler, compiler, Vital Records of Barre, Massachusetts to 1849 (Boston, Mass.: Stanhope Press, 1903), Marriages, 136. Hereinafter cited as Barre Vital Records.); James was of (Fort) Salona, N.Y. in the marriage record. He died in Apr 1874 in New York at age 80 (Probate Surrogate's Court, St. Lawrence Co., N.Y.).
James lived and died at Huvelton, NY and had no children, according to Henry Fifield of Montpelier. The 1850 census found him in Oswegatchie (not far from Huvelton). According to that census he was born in NH. His dates of birth and death are from The Genealogy of NH by Stearns, 1908. In 1860 he is still in Oswegatchie with wife Sarah plus Louisa P. Fifield, born in Canada. In 1870 he is there alone. He was warned out of Bethel, Windsor, Vermont, 2 Feb 1816 (Alden M. Rollins, compiler, Vermont Warnings Out (Southern Vermont) (Rockport, ME: Picton Press, November 1997), Page 321. Hereinafter cited as Vermont Warnings II.). He appeared on the census of 1860 in Oswegatchie, Saint Lawrence, New York (1860 U. S. Federal Census Oswegatchie, Saint Lawrence, N.Y 1 June 1860.).

Children of James6 Fifield (947) and Sarah H. Woodbury (948) were:
183. ROBERT6 FIFIELD (952) (Moses5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 22 Feb 1795 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H ("Pension record", James R. Fifield, certificate 438945.); I consider it unlikely that Robert was born in Salisbury N.H. Most likely this belated entry in the family Bible of his son is an indication of the fact that grandfather Moses came from Salisbury. He was born on 23 Feb 1796. He married Susan Elizabeth Babbitt (4780), daughter of Abel Babbitt (10748) and Susan Winslow (10749), on 5 Nov 1818 in Barnard, Windsor, Vermont (Vermont Vital Records,: No further information in the record.). He married Betsey E. Perkins (13471) on 29 Jan 1835 in Heuvelton, St Lawrence, New York (Fred Q Bowman, compiler, 8,000 More Vital Records of Eastern New York State 1804-1850 (Rhinebeck, NY: Kinship, 1991), References St. Lawrence Republican of February 3, 1835. Page 77. Hereinafter cited as 8,000 More NY records.); Betsey was "of Potsdam. He died in 1889 (Probate Robert's will was submitted for probate 16 August 1889 and proved 2 December 1889. In addition to executrix Martha J., sons C. R. Fifield of Manson, IA and J. R. Fifield of New Hartford, IA were mentioned as heirs at law.).
Robert lived at Huvelton, NY, and married, but had no children according to Henry Fifield of Montpelier. The 1850 census found him and his brother James in Oswegatchie, not far from Huvelton. However, it is obvious from all records that he did indeed have children. He indicated that he was born in NH. The New York State census of 1865 says that he was married twice, his wife was married once, and she was the mother of two children. It also says his wife was born in Vermont. He was warned out of Barnard, Windsor, Vermont, 2 Sep 1817 (Rollins, Vermont Warnings II, Page 317.). He appeared on the census of 1860 in Oswegatchie, Saint Lawrence, New York (1860 U. S. Federal Census Oswegatchie, Saint Lawrence, N.Y 1 June 1860.). He left a will on 22 Feb 1877 in Oswegatchie, St Lawrence, New York; Robert left everything to daughter and executrix Martha Jane Fifield. No one else was mentioned in the will. Witnesses were John Mclaren and W. J. Allen of Oswegatchie.

Children of Robert6 Fifield (952) and Susan Elizabeth Babbitt (4780) were as follows:

Children of Robert6 Fifield (952) and Betsey E. Perkins (13471) were as follows:
184. IRA6 FIFIELD (950) (Moses5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 24 Sep 1798. He married Mary Plummer (951) on 24 Sep 1820 in Washington, Orange, Vermont (Vermont Vital Records,: No further information in the record.). He died on 9 Jan 1859 in Chelsea, Orange, Vermont, at age 60 (Ibid., Parents named, age 60, 4, 2; born Chelsea; Typhus.). He was buried in Chelsea, Orange, Vermont.
He appeared on the census of 1850 in Chelsea, Orange, Vermont; Ira and his family appear in the 1850 census in Chelsea, VT. His dates of birth and death are from Stearns 1908 Genealogy of NH. The marriage of Ira and 'Polly' Plummer is recorded in VT vital records. The marriages of two female Fifields are recorded in Chelsea prior to 1850. These are probably additional daughters of Ira, and I have entered them as such, also indicated by the 1840 census. Hiram is assigned based on his birthplace of Washington and the presence of Ira there in the 1830 census with a son of the proper age. Hiram Fifield "of East Wallingford, VT" is also mentioned in the probate record of uncle James Fifield. Henry is assigned based on the probate record for uncle James Fifield of Oswegatchie, NY. That record lists heirs at law of brothers Adams, Silas and Robert, and then lists children of Ira along with "Henry Fifield of Greenfield, NH." An early marriage of an Ira to Juna Bigelow is recorded in Middletown VT. Perhaps Ira had two wives? Appears unlikely, as he would have been but 15 years old at time of marriage!

Children of Ira6 Fifield (950) and Mary Plummer (951) were as follows:
185. JOHN ADAMS6 FIFIELD (956) (Moses5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 22 May 1804 in Vershire, Orange, Vermont. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460, Highland Cemetery, Chelsea VT - Adams died age 79.). He was buried in Chelsea, Orange, Vermont.

He died on 4 Jan 1864 (Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460, As recorded at NH Historical Society.); Age 77, soldier. He died on 4 Jan 1869 (Thomas Hills, Three Ancient Cemeteries in New Hampshire near junction boundary lines of Lebanon, Plainfield and Grantham (Boston: David Clapp & Son, 1910), Page 45. Hereinafter cited as Three Cemeteries.); Aged 77 yrs. He died on 12 Jan 1869 in Plainfield, Sullivan, N.H (Probate File 4352-a Sullivan co. intestate - fight among the children.) (Hills, Three Cemeteries, Page 45.); David died intestate. Probate records show 4 children fighting over the estate. Elizabeth Pearson, Philander S. Fifield and Mary A. Seavy all petitioned to NOT have eldest child Moses appointed executor, as he was trying to claim the whole estate as eldest plus having cared for his father during the final illness. An impartial executor finally declared the estate insolvent.

Children of David6 Fifield (1491) and Polly Brooks (1492) were as follows:
188. ELIZABETH6 FIFIELD (1506) (David5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1797. She married Dudley Brooks (1507) on 9 Jan 1820 in Plainfield, Cheshire, N.H (NHVR.). He married Amy Tracy (1502), daughter of Thomas Tracy (9239) and Amy Tibbits (9240), on 10 Sep 1827 in Monkton, Addison, Vermont (Vermont Vital Records,: Groom's residence given as New Haven VT.). He married Sarah Ann Smith (1503) on 7 Jun 1845 in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois. He died on 16 Aug 1851 in Ogden, Weber, Utah, at age 47 (Letter, to Peter F. Wells, Family ancestry chart from Marvin Bryce Fifield.).
He appeared on the census of 1850 in Sacramento, Calif (1850 U. S. Federal Census Sacramento, Calif 1 June 1850.); Appears with son Byron.

Children of Levi Joseph6 Fifield (1501) and Amy Tracy (1502) both born in New Haven, Addison, Vermont, were as follows:

He married Elizabeth Fifield (1040), daughter of John Fifield (911) and Dorotha Fifield (912), on 23 Sep 1762 in Kingston, provincial N.H (Ibid., The Bean genealogy gives the marriage date as 23 September.). He died on 1 Jun 1804 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H (MacBean, Bean genealogy.).
The Bean genealogy says that 2 Joseph Beans married Betsey Fifields, the second Joseph and Betsey having a son Joseph born August 7, 1744. It says also that Eastman's genealogy plus TAG on this family is inaccurate (Ibid., Page 80, sixth edition revised, 1992.).

Children of Joseph6 Bean (1041) and Elizabeth Fifield (1040) are:
193. JOSEPH6 BEAN JR. (10702) (David5, Daniel4, Mary3 Fifield, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 5 Sep 1753 in Candia, Rockingham, N.H (Letter, to Peter F. Wells, Information from Charlotte Gibson February 1998.). He married Betty Fifield (1245), daughter of Ensign Joseph Fifield Esquire (1038) and Anna Badger (1039), circa 1782 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H (E-mail message, e-mail to Peter Fifield Wells, E-mail from researcher Alice Eichholz, C.G. 13 March 1997.). Peter is buried Plains Cemetary, Kingston, NH. Peter's will mentions daugher Mary, wife of Jeremiah Fisk; Sarah, wife of Benjamin Sanborn; Elizabeth, wife of Andrew Hanson; Olivia, wife of Samuel Heublean; son John; son Peter and heirs (not specified), and wife Sarah.

Children of Peter6 Fifield (1208) and Sarah Judkins (1209) all born in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H, were as follows:

He was buried in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H.
The early census figures for Kingston indicate that Samuel had a family of three daughters born 1785-1800.

There were no children of Samuel6 Fifield (1210) and Martha Winslow (1211).

Children of Samuel6 Fifield (1210) and Anna (--?--) (1212) were as follows:
196. AMOS6 FIFIELD (1213) (Samuel5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 12 Jun 1770 in Kingston, provincial N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as Samuel Jr. and Mary Eastman.). He married Hannah Fifield (1214), daughter of John Clifford Fifield (1017) and Hannah Sanborn (1018), on 5 Mar 1795 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR.); Kingston records give the year of marriage of Amos and Hannah as 1754. This is obviously wrong. NH Vital Records give 1795. He died in Nov 1840 in East Kingston, Rockingham, N.H., at age 70 (Probate Rockingham Co., the estate of Amos was declared insolvent.); Amos died intestate, a debtor.
Amos 'of Gilmanton NH' sold land in Unity on 3 December 1795 (Cheshire county book 31 page 4.) Hannah also signed the deed (: Cheshire county N.H. 31:4.).

This is obviously wrong. NH Vital Records give 1795.
On a 1795 Cheshire county deed (book 31 page 4) Hannah signed with an 'X' (: Cheshire county N.H. 31:4.).

Children of Hannah6 Fifield (1214) and Amos Fifield (1213) were as follows:
198. ANNA6 FIFIELD (1510) (Peter5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1773. She married Peter Colcord Stevens (1511), son of Ebenezer Stevens (7033) and Mrs. Dolly Stevens (7034), on 16 Dec 1795 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR.).
The 1850 Kingston census shows 'Annah Fiffield' age 88 and Shuah age 61 'paupers' living with John Stevens, who married Anna's sister Ruhama. However, since the age and surname do not match, this is probably a cousin of Anna.

Children of Anna6 Fifield (1510) and Peter Colcord Stevens (1511) were:
199. DAVID6 FIFIELD (1509) (Peter5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1775. He was christened on 6 Jul 1777 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H. He on 15 Aug 1800 in Hallowell, Kennebec, Maine (MEVR,: Marriage intent filed 8/15/1800, he resides Fayette she Hallowell.). He died on 22 Feb 1836 in Fayette, Kennebec, Maine.
This is probably the David who married Hannah Stevens (intent 8/15/1800) in Maine. He gave his residence as Fayette, and she of Hallowell. The census figures of 1810-1820 for Fayette indicate a family of 2 males and 3 females born in the period 1805-1820, and confirm 1775 as a good estimate for his year of birth. The History of Fayette shows that his oldest son was named Peter and his second daughter Sally, making the identification even more certain given the names of his parents.

Children of David6 Fifield (1509) and Hannah Stevens (3869) were as follows:
200. RUHAMA6 FIFIELD (1512) (Peter5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1778. She was christened on 28 Aug 1778 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H. She married John Stevens (1513), son of Ebenezer Stevens (7033) and Mrs. Dolly Stevens (7034), on 13 Dec 1798 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR.).

Children of Ruhama6 Fifield (1512) and John Stevens (1513) were as follows:
201. MOSES FRENCH6 FIFIELD (1514) (Peter5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1782. He was christened on 13 Oct 1782 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H. He married Susanna Quimby (3919) on 26 Feb 1811 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H. He died circa 1829 (Probate Rockingham co. probate records dated 1829, intestate.); Susanna submitted an accounting including expenses for the boarding of Ora P. from April 2 1829 to July 25 1835 'being the time he arrived to the age of seven years'. Accounts were also paid to Amos and 'Affa' Fifield. Guardianship papers over Ora P. plus Mary Jane and Abraham, minors over 14, may indicate the family. The 1820 census suggests one male and one female child.
I believe this is Moses whose wedding to Susanna Quimby was recorded in Kingston. Probate records for the estate of Moses in Kingston with widow Susanna administering plus the name Ora Pearson, also used elsewhere in the family, tend to confirm it.

Children of Moses French6 Fifield (1514) and Susanna Quimby (3919) were as follows:
202. SALLY (SARAH)6 FIFIELD (1515) (Peter5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was christened on 18 Jun 1784 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H. She was born on 14 Jul 1784 (Sanborn, Sanborn genealogy, Page 219.). She married Peter Sanborn (1516) on 15 Sep 1808.
Sarah was unmarried in 1802 when her father's will was written.

Children of Sally (Sarah)6 Fifield (1515) and Peter Sanborn (1516) were:
203. JOSIAH B.6 FIFIELD (1517) (Peter5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1789. He was christened on 2 Jul 1789 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H. He married Apphia D. Smith (1518) in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H. He married Harriet M. Smith (3943), daughter of Reuben Smith (25277) and Betsey Wadleigh (25278), on 12 Sep 1855 in Exeter, Rockingham, N.H (Newspaper notice or article or equivalent., Exeter Newsletter 17 Sept 1855.). He died on 30 Sep 1864 in Exeter, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR,: Age given as 76.).
Josiah is a problem Fifield, whose family is not documented as such as far as I can tell. What I have has been pieced together, mostly from NH Vital records with the assumption that he represents the only Josiah Fifield family in Brentwood in the early 1800's. In most cases the records for his children mention his name as father somewhere. The one exception is John H., whose father is therefore assumed based on his otherwise close association with Josiah's family and his birthplace of Brentwood. In the 1850 census Josiah appears in Gilmanton, NH (Belmont). In the house with him are Sarah, 20 and Charles, 18. Also in town are sons Stevens S., John H. and Josiah B. with their families. The 1820 census shows 4 males up to 10 years old. Later census records obviously miss some of his children. In the 1860 census Josiah is in Exeter, age 70, with Harriet Fifield, age 53. A family history written by an unknown great grandchild of ancestor Samuel gives Josiah's children as Peter S., Stephen S., Josiah, Betsey, John H., George S., Sarah, Charles K. and Thomas E.

Children of Josiah B.6 Fifield (1517) and Apphia D. Smith (1518) were as follows:

There were no children of Josiah B.6 Fifield (1517) and Harriet M. Smith (3943).
204. SANBORN6 FIFIELD (1145) (Joseph5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born in Jan 1775. He married Hannah Eastman (1146) in 1799. He died on 15 Nov 1853 in Deerfield, Rockingham, N.H., at age 78 (Probate File 16494 Rockingham co. will of Sanborn.). He was buried in Deerfield, Rockingham, N.H.
He appeared on the census of 1850 in Deerfield, Rockingham, N.H; Sanborn, age 77. Along with him are Elisa S., age 43, and Mary A., age 27. He and his family have gravestones in Deerfield on South Road - Route 43, and a memorial erected in their memory by 'their daughter Mrs. Mary A. Conner, October AD 1891'. Sanborn died age 78 years 11 months. The Exeter Newsletter says he died in the 79th year of his age, and he was a professor of religion for a number of years.

Children of Sanborn6 Fifield (1145) and Hannah Eastman (1146) were as follows:
205. JOSEPH6 FIFIELD (1147) (Joseph5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 7 Feb 1776. He on 16 May 1799 (Lilly, Lyon genealogy.). He died on 19 Apr 1867 at age 91 (Maine Old Cemetery Association, MOCA, Kennebec Co. Manchester, Hill Cemetery, age 91 yrs 2 mos 12 days.). He was buried in Hill Cemetery, Manchester, Kennebec, Maine (FAG, online unknown url, Memorial #42512409.).
The town history of Manchester ME in the History of Kennebec County, plus gravestone information recorded by the Maine Old Cemetery Association plus 1850 census information make it abundantly clear that the Joseph buried in Manchester age 91 yrs 2 months 12 days is this Joseph. According to the 1800 census Joseph came to Maine in 1798 (Henry D. and Deyo, Simeon L. Kingsbury, editor, Illustrated History of Kennebec County, Maine (New York: H. W. Blake and Company, 1892), Page 883. Hereinafter cited as Kennebec Maine history.). Records of the town of Manchester were lost in a fire in the 1950's. According to William Worthing, a Fifield descendant, there are no more people with the name of Fifield in Manchester (conversation on 7/16/91). He lives on the corner of Worthing and Fifield roads in Manchester, in a farmhouse which was passed down from Fifields.

Children of Joseph6 Fifield (1147) and Levina Lyon (1148) were as follows:
206. TRISTRAM6 FIFIELD (1155) (Joseph5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1780 (Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460, Headstone say Tristram died age 36.). He died on 23 Jul 1816 (Ibid., Old cemetery (Oak Hill) per recording at NH Historical Society.). He was buried in East Kingston, Rockingham, N.H.
Tristam died unmarried, according to notes on him. However, the 1800 census for Joseph plus the 1810 census for 'Tristiam Fife' in East Kingston plus the 1820 and 1830 census for Jacob all indicate to me that the Joseph born in 1795 in East Kingston was part of this family. A likely possibility is that Joseph was an illegitimate child of Tristram. Research by descendants indicate that the mother was Eunice Bean French. There is an entry for Tristram in the pension papers for the war of 1812 referring to a substitute, Samuel Caverly.

Children of Tristram6 Fifield (1155) and Eunice Bean French (11950) were:
207. JOHN6 FIFIELD (1149) (Joseph5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born in Jul 1782 in Epping, Rockingham, N.H; Death records of two children give John's birthplace as Epping. He married Sarah Gilman (1150) circa 1806 (Kingsbury, Kennebec Maine history, Page 911.). He died on 29 Oct 1845 in Readfield, Kennebec, Maine, at age 63 (Maine Old Cemetery Association, MOCA, Kennebec Co. Manchester, Fifield Cemetery age 63 years 3 months.). He was buried in Fifield Cemetery, Readfield, Kennebec, Maine (New England Ancestors, online www.nehgs.org, Cemetery Records on line, 2/22/2003.) (FAG, online unknown url, Memorial #42527311.).
On April 9 1805 brother Tristram purchased John's share of the land left to him by their father for $1000, probably a good indication of the date of his trek toward Maine.

Children of John6 Fifield (1149) and Sarah Gilman (1150) were as follows:
208. ELIZABETH6 FIFIELD (1153) (Joseph5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born in May 1792 in East Kingston, Rockingham, N.H. She married Jonathan Bailey (3882). She died on 12 Jun 1881 in East Kingston, Rockingham, N.H., at age 89 (NHVR,: Widowed, age 89 years 1 month, born East Kingston.).

Children of Elizabeth6 Fifield (1153) and Jonathan Bailey (3882) both born in East Kingston, Rockingham, N.H, were as follows:
209. JOHN CLIFFORD6 FIFIELD (1521) (Stephen5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 7 Mar 1777 in Candia, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as Stephen and Margaret Sanborn.). He married Nancy Morrill (3885), daughter of Esquire Samuel Morrill (24939) and Hannah (--?--) (24940), on 10 Jun 1802 in Candia, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., no further information in record.). He married Ann Dolloff (3883), daughter of Josiah Dolloff (24852) and Jane (--?--) (24853), on 20 Feb 1827 in Chester, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR,: No further information in record.); Her marriage to John was obviously her second, as John's will refers to his wife's daughter Lucinda Nichols. He died on 11 Oct 1842 in Candia, Rockingham, N.H., at age 65 (Probate Rockingham co. will of John proved 9 November 1842.).
1820-1830 census data shows that John C. lived in Candia and had a family which included 4 sons and 2 daughters.

Children of John Clifford6 Fifield (1521) and Nancy Morrill (3885) were as follows:

There were no children of John Clifford6 Fifield (1521) and Ann Dolloff (3883).
210. PETER6 FIFIELD (1523) (Stephen5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 8 May 1782 in Candia, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., Parents recorded as Stephen and Margaret Sanborn.). He married Mehitable Rowe (1524), daughter of Isaiah Rowe (24945) and Sarah (--?--) (24946), on 6 Dec 1804 in Candia, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR.). He died on 9 Feb 1837 in Candia, Rockingham, N.H., at age 54 (Probate File 13679, Rockingham co., will of Peter.); NHVR says 1839! He was buried in Candia, Rockingham, N.H.
Early census records indicate that Peter had children totaling 4 males and 7 females.

Children of Peter6 Fifield (1523) and Mehitable Rowe (1524) were as follows:
211. WEAVER6 FIFIELD (1198) (Ebenezer5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born in Feb 1780. He married Roxana Curtis (1199) circa 1822 (Kingsbury, Kennebec Maine history, II:911.). He died on 16 Nov 1854 at age 74 (Maine Old Cemetery Association, MOCA, Kennebec Co. Readfield, Barbar Cemetery age 74 years 9 months.). He was buried in Case Cemetery, Readfield, Kennebec, Maine (FAG, online unknown url, Memorial #30103142 & #42532746.).
Wyer had nine children; Benjamin H., Joann M., William E., Alanson C., Calvin, Lucretia L., Eben, Mary S., and Harrison, who died 24 April 1879. All except Benjamin H., Calvin and Mary S. moved to California (history of Readfield from History of Kennebec County). Weaver and his family appear in the 1850 census in Readfield. Sheppard says that he was born about 1780. His headstone says he died 16 Nov 1854 age 74 yrs 9 mos. Family history says that he was found dead in a well, and no one knew how he came there. He was also known as Wyer (1198).

Children of Weaver6 Fifield (1198) and Roxana Curtis (1199) were as follows:
212. EBENEZER6 FIFIELD (1194) (Ebenezer5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born in Nov 1780 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H. He married Isabella Cross Thompson (1195) in Oct 1806 in East Kingston, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR,: No further information in record.). He died on 1 Aug 1862 at age 81 (Maine Old Cemetery Association, MOCA, Kennebec Co. Belgrade, Woodside Cemetery, died age 81 years 9 months.). He was buried in Belgrade, Kennebec, Maine.
He appeared on the census of 1850 (1850 U. S. Federal Census Kennebec, Maine 1 June 1850.); Ebenezer's family is from the notes of Sheppard. The 1850 census shows Mary J., age 40, and Sarah P., age 15, living with him, Isabella and Noah. His gravestone says he died age 81 years 9 mos.

Children of Ebenezer6 Fifield (1194) and Isabella Cross Thompson (1195) were as follows:
213. DR. NOAH6 FIFIELD (1196) (Ebenezer5, Samuel4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 22 Jul 1783 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Mass. He married Hannah Cranch Bond (1197), daughter of William Bond (9193) and Hannah Cranch (11040), on 30 Jul 1820 in Dorchester, Suffolk, Mass (American Antiquarian Society Antiquarian Society, CC of 2 Aug 1820 'in Dorchester Sunday.') (MAVR,: Vital Records of Dorchester.); Marriage by Rev. T. M. Harris. He died on 21 Oct 1867 in Dorchester, Suffolk, Mass., at age 84 (Ibid., Dorchester, 203:234, parents named, cause of death - old age.).
Noah became a doctor and removed to Massachusetts. He appears in Weymouth in the 1850 census.

Children of Dr. Noah6 Fifield (1196) and Hannah Cranch Bond (1197) were as follows:
214. CAPTAIN WINTHROP6 FIFIELD (1230) (John5, John4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 16 Nov 1761 in Kingston, provincial N.H. He was christened on 9 May 1762 in East Kingston, provincial N.H (2nd Church of Christ, record at NH Historical, Church records.). He married Mehetable Pettengill (1231) on 11 Mar 1784 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H (NHVR,: No further information in record.). He died on 10 Jan 1834 in Salisbury, Merrimack, N.H., at age 72 (Probate File 1104 Merrimack co. will of Winthrop.).
Winthrop served in the Revolutionary War as a Marine. A deposition from him in the NH Revolutionary Pension Records gives his birth date and place 'from the family Bible' and his age as '71 last November' on 24 April 1833. Annual allowance 25.75; amount received 64.37 on 4 Mar 1831 in Merrimack, N.H.

Children of Captain Winthrop6 Fifield (1230) and Mehetable Pettengill (1231) were as follows:

Stackpole, History of Durham, ME (Lewiston, Maine: Lewiston Journal Company, 1899). Hereinafter cited as Durham, Maine.). He married Mary Bagley (1234), daughter of Orlando Israel Bagley (23732) and Mary Snow (23733), on 1 Mar 1787 in Turner, Androscoggin, Maine (MEVR,: Ages given as 21 for Edward, 18 for Mary.). He died on 28 Apr 1838 at age 72 (Maine Old Cemetery Association, MOCA.). He was buried in Greenwood, Oxford, Maine.
Information on Edward's children comes from the history of Dorham, ME, where it says that he moved to Greenwood, ME 1814-1817. That history gives his birthplace as Kingston, MA. NH is far more likely. Much of the information on his descendants is from Bennett, who corresponded with descendant Doris Fifield Wilkins. Her mother Martha apparently did research on many branches of the family, and Bennett had access to her notes.

Children of Edward6 Fifield (1233) and Mary Bagley (1234) were as follows:
216. MARY6 FIFIELD (1235) (John5, John4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1767. She married Peter French (1236), son of Joseph French (24933) and Huldah Clifford (24934), on 31 Mar 1796 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H (NHVR.).

Children of Mary6 Fifield (1235) and Peter French (1236) were as follows:

Smith, Genealogy of the Family of William Smith of Peterborough, NH (Keene, NH: n.pub., 1852), Page 12. Hereinafter cited as Smith of Peterborough.).
Joshua was known as 'Squire' as he was a justice of the peace. He was a large lumber dealer, sold out, and moved to Franklin. He built a brick house there which became the Congregational Parsonage. * His will mentions wife Louisa, daughter Ann S. Gerrish of Franklin, granddaughter Susan Elizabeth Smith, daughter of (unreadable) Robert Smith of Hampton, and Susan's mother Susan Smith, divorced (Dearborn, Dearborn's Salisbury, Page 564.).

Children of Esquire Joshua6 Fifield (1239) and Susanna Sanborn (1240) were as follows:

Children of Esquire Joshua6 Fifield (1239) and Louisa Smith (1241) all born in Franklin, Merrimack, N.H, were as follows:

(Newspaper notice or article or equivalent., New Star, 16 May 1797, at Salisbury Friday last of consumption.); Sherburn left a wife and four children.
Hillsborough county probate papers appoint guardians for Stephen and Polly, children of Sherburne, in 1803.

Children of Sherburne6 Fifield (1242) and Alice Barnard (1244) both born in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H, were as follows:

Children of Sherburne6 Fifield (1242) and Elizabeth Sanborn (1243) all born in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H, were as follows:

Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460, As recorded at NH Historical Society.); Age 83.
Joseph removed to Plainfield.

Children of Joseph6 Fifield (1248) and Hannah Pettingill (1249) were as follows:

He married Betsey Pettingill (2083), daughter of Captain Benjamin Pettingill (21739), say 1795; The Pettingill genealogy says Betsey married John, son of Joseph, and lists the children of John. See also History of Andover for this family. He married Hannah Farnum (2084), daughter of John Farnum (16104) and Sarah Peters (16105), on 12 Jul 1814 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H. He died after 1849 ( January 2003, Vol. 20 #1 page 7. Discussion of John and his descendants.).
He and Ensign Joseph Fifield Esquire (1038) purchased Joseph of Salisbury, for the sum of $300, sold to John Jr., son, two land parcels of 30 acres each. On the same day, John sold the same two parcels to Jacob Farnum for $500, stating that it was the land he was living on (page 342, book 97) on 19 Jul 1813
Children of Mountain John6 Fifield Jr (2082) and Betsey Pettingill (2083) were as follows:

Children of Mountain John6 Fifield Jr (2082) and Hannah Farnum (2084) were as follows:
222. EZRA6 FIFIELD (1351) (Joseph5, John4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1775 in Kingston, Rockingham, N.H. He married Mehitable Adams (5499), daughter of Joseph Adams (25108), say 1799. He died before 1851; Based on appearance of Mehitable in the 1850 census without Ezra.
According to Dearborn's History of Salisbury, Ezra was twice married and lived on the Sherburne Fifield place. The early census breakdowns show that he was born about 1775. Assignment of his children is unproven, and may not be correct ( January/April 2001, Vol. 18 #1-2, page 8. Discussion of Ezra and his descendants.). As of 1790, he was also known as Josiah Fifield (1351) (Heads of Families at the First Census of the United States taken in the year 1790 ,Salisbury NH 2 Aug. 1790.).

Children of Ezra6 Fifield (1351) and Mehitable Adams (5499) were as follows:
223. NANCY6 FIFIELD (4032) (Joseph5, John4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1777. She married Nathaniel Ash (4033) on 20 Jun 1793 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H (NHVR.).
As of 20 Jun 1793, she was also known as Anne Fifield (4032) (Ibid., Marriage record of Anne Fifield and Nathaniel Ash.).

Revolutionary pensions, Manuscript New Hampshire Historical Society.). He married Susannah Clement (4656), daughter of David Clement (26041) and Thankful How (26042), circa 1817 (N.H. Land transfer.). He died before 7 Jun 1842 in Lowell, Middlesex, Mass (Probate Middlesex Co. MA; #31671.); Estate valued at $85.22; widow Susan administrator. Died testate, but no will available from Middlesex Co. MA.
He was on 22 Mar 1825 in Family farm, Salisbury, Merrimack, N.H (Jonathan Fifield sells family farm, 6: Know all men by these presents that Jonathan Fifield Jr. of Salisbury in the county of Merrimack and state of New Hampshire, yeoman, for and in consideration of three hundred forty six dollars eighty seven cents to me in hand, before the delivery hereof, paid by Jonathan P. He appeared on the census of 1830 in Salisbury, Merrimack, N.H (Heads of Families at the Fifth Census of the United States taken in the year 1830 Page 006 1 June 1830.). In a deposition in the NH Revolutionary Pension Records, Jonathan gives his age as 52 in 1837, confirms that he is the son of Joseph and Anna, also the date of death of his father and references brother Sherburne who, if living, would be about 76. Jonathan disappeared from the NH census after 1830 ( October 2000, Vol. 17, #4, discussion of Jonathan and his family.). He appeared on the census of 1840 in Lowell, Middlesex, Mass (Heads of Families at the Sixth Census of the United States taken in the year 1840 1 June 1840.); 1 male 50-59, 1 male 20-29 (Franklin?), 1 male 15-19 (unidentified). 1 female 40-49 (Susan), 3 females 15-19 (Adelaide, Abigail wife of Franklin?, unidentified), 1 female 10-14 (unidentified).

Ebenezer attended Salisbury Academy, and graduated from Dartmouth in 1804. He read medicine with Dr. Nathan Smith of Hanover, then went to practice law with Daniel Webster in Boston. He removed to the vicinity of Bangor, ME but returned to Boston. In the war of 1812 he was a surgeon on the ship Oriole (?) which was captured by the French. He was a prisoner of war in France for 8 months, and came back to Boston in bad health. He taught at the academy in Alexandria, VA, and 1n 1823 was principal of the Belmont school in Boston. He worked for the old State Bank until 1830, when his eyesight began to fail. In the 1850 census, Ebenezer was in Lowell, MA with his wife and Ellen Fifield, age 58. In his father's will he names son Osgood, presumably referring to Ebenezer O. by his middle name. He lived between 1810 and 1830 in Boston, Suffolk, Mass; Listed in The Boston Directories published by Cotton and Stimpson from 1810 through 1830.

Children of Ebenezer Osgood6 Fifield (1362) and Anna Green Gough (1363) were as follows:

Locust Grove Cemetery Hampden ME.). He was buried in Hampden, Penobscot, Maine ("Pension record", Pearson Fifield - War of 1812 pension record.); B. B. Thomas, David Brown and George Dillingham were pallbearers.
Pearson removed to Frankfort near Winterport, ME about 1808, returned to Salisbury in 1812 with his wife and 1 child. He was drafted, and served on Lake Champlain. In 1815 he removed to Vasselboro ME, had 6 children there, the youngest of which was Harriet born in 1828 according to Dearborn - but how could she have been the youngest if he returned to Salisbury in 1812 with a child?. The 1810 census for Hampden ME shows a household of apparent husband and wife plus a male born 1795-1800. By Mary, his second wife, he had 2 daughters. The youngest was Anna D., residing in Hampden, ME. Gravestones in Hampden ME for Pearson and his family have only the initials on them. Pearson served in the War of 1812 in Thayer's Maine Militia. The date of marriage to Mary Whitcomb and his date of death are from the pension records. He was also known as Benjamin Pearson Fifield (1364). Participated in the Battle of Hampden. William Kingsbury and Joshua Downes testified in support of his participation on 3 Sep 1814 (Ibid.). As of 1893, he was also known as Benjamin Pearson Fifield (1364) Death record of son Elbridge.

He appeared on the census of 1850 (1850 U. S. Federal Census Albany, Vt 1 June 1850.); Josiah removed to Irasburg, VT according to Sheppard's note. He appears in Albany, VT in the 1850 census, age 78. Irasburg vital records did not exist prior to 1857. The 1810 (Plainfield NH) and 1820 (Hartford VT) censuses show 2 males (1795-1800, & 1805-1810) and 3 females (1795, 1805-1810 and 1810) on the assumption that the same people are in both tallies. VT vital records show the marriage of Josiah in 1816 to Betsey Bill, his second wife per the Bill genealogy. His death is recorded at Albany. Plainfield town records show that he held minor town offices in 1814 and 1817 (2:188 & 2:209). In 1811 a road was surveyed by his house (2:514). He held land as a non-resident in Grantham and Haverhill. While Andrew is present in 1840 in Orleans County, I assign him to Daniel based on the naming pattern of his children, especially Absolam.

Children of Edward6 Fifield (1392) include:
236. PERLEY6 FIFIELD (1388) (Edward5, John4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1793 in Salisbury, Hillsborough, N.H (1850 U. S. Federal Census Plainfield, Sullivan, N.H 1 June 1850.) He married Miriam Morgan (1389), daughter of Captain Nathaniel Morgan (25234), on 29 Jan 1820 in Cornish, Cheshire, N.H (NHVR,: No further information in record.). He died on 11 Jun 1863 (Probate File 304-a Sullivan co. intestate, debtors & children.); Perley died age 75 according to the History of Salisbury, which gives the date of death as June 11, 1863. However, the 1850 census gives his age as 56 which would make him about 69 in 1863. The 1860 census gives his age as 68. 9 children are assumed from those listed in the 1850 and 1860 census, there may be more. The given ages of the children make the census ages the more believable ones. He died intestate. The petition for administration was signed by Charles P., Mary J., Sarah M. Morgan, Susan J. and Byron, a 'majority' of the surviving children. The estate was declared insolvent. Those claiming money owed included the above plus John Fifield, John Newton and Orrin Morgan. He died on 11 Jun 1864 in Raynesford Cemetery, Plainfield, Sullivan, N.H (Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460, As recorded at NH Historical Society.); Died age 74, but this is inconsistent with census records.

Rowland, History of Van Buren Co., MI (n.p.: Lewis Publishing Company, 1912). Hereinafter cited as Van Buren Co. MI.). He married Sarah Norris (1405) on 25 May 1820 in Ogden, Monroe, New York ("Pension record", War of 1812 pension records.). He died on 10 Sep 1843 in Waterford, Oakland, Michigan, at age 50 ( Volume 23 page 76.) (findagrave, online www.findagrave.com, Waterford Center Cemetery, Waterford, Oakland, Michigan.); Upon his death, the probate record listed only son Francis and widow Sarah as heirs. He was buried in Waterford Center Cemetery, Waterford, Oakland, Michigan (Ibid., Memorial #42075846.).
Samuel moved to Michigan, and was in Waterford as of April 1838. He served in the war of 1812 in John Bean's NH Militia. The date of marriage is from the pension papers and was said to have occurred in Monroe County, NY.

Children of Samuel6 Fifield (1404) and Sarah Norris (1405) were as follows:
241. EDWARD6 FIFIELD (1203) (William5, Edward4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 29 Nov 1755 in East Kingston, provincial N.H (Eastman, Andover history, Page 157.). He married Elizabeth Rowe (1204), daughter of Lieutenant John Rowe (23730) and Susan Scribner (23731), on 19 Nov 1787 in Andover, Hillsborough, N.H (Eastman, Andover history, Page 157, Genealogies.). He died on 21 Jun 1812 in Andover, Merrimack, N.H., at age 56 (Ibid.). He was buried in Old North Church Cemetery, Andover, Merrimack, N.H (Ancestry, online www.ancestry.com, Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots, Volume II; 4/30/98.) (Eastman, Andover history, page 343.).
Edward was reported to have been a Captain in the Revolutionary War at the age of 23. At age 20 he served in Captain Philip Tilton's co, Colonel Enoch Poor's Regiment. His pension record says that he was at the Battle of Bunker Hill between 1775 and 1776 ("Pension record", Revolutionary Pension records for Edward's former wife.). According to Hilton, History of Andover additions/corrections, Edward resided at Poultney, VT at one time and several of his children were born there (N.H. Corrections. History of Andover, Typescript manuscript.). He was warned out of Cornwall, Addison, Vermont, 24 Dec 1804 (Rollins, Vermont Warnings, Page 36.); While I have no proof, it seems most logical that this was the Edward warned out.

Children of Edward6 Fifield (1203) and Elizabeth Rowe (1204) were as follows:
242. BETTY6 FIFIELD (2105) (William5, Edward4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born in Oct 1758 ("Pension record", In the Revolutionary Pension records for her brother Edward, Betsey testified twice as to her age "last October."). She was christened on 22 Oct 1758 in East Kingston, provincial N.H. She married William Chase (6336) on 11 Feb 1783 in Hampton, Rockingham, N.H ( Vol 52 page 435, South Hampton church records.). She died in 1848.
According to the History of Salisbury, William Chase a native of Kingston married Betsey Fifield who died in 1848 aged 91. Betsey Chase testified on behalf of her brother's Revolutionary War pension application.

Children of Betty6 Fifield (2105) and William Chase (6336) were:
243. ANNA6 FIFIELD (2104) (William5, Edward4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1765. She was christened on 23 Feb 1765 in East Kingston, provincial N.H.
Perhaps this is the Anna Fifield in Kingston, pauper, with Shuah, in the 1850 census.Perhaps Shuah was an illegitimate daughter; she is otherwise unidentified (1850 U. S. Federal Census Kingston, Rockingham. N.H. page 135 1 June 1850.).

Children of Anna6 Fifield (2104) include:
244. SAMUEL6 FIFIELD (2879) (William5, Edward4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 14 Apr 1770 in Kingston, provincial N.H (Frisbie & Ruggles Joslin, History of Poultney VT (Poultney, VT: Poultney Journal Printing Office, 1875), Birthplace and date of Samuel given. Hereinafter cited as Poultney Vt.). He was christened on 15 Apr 1770 in East Kingston, provincial N.H. He married Charlotte Hamlin (2880) before 1800 (Heads of Families at the Second Census of the United States taken in the year 1800 Poultney, Rutland, Vt 4 Aug. 1800 The National Archives.); Daughter born bef. 4 August 1800. He died on 31 Mar 1846 in Poultney, Rutland, Vermont, at age 75 (Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460, Poultney VT - Fifield cemetery, north end of town. Died age 76.) (Vermont Vital Records.). He was buried in Poultney, Rutland, Vermont.
The History of Poultney (VT), Joslin, Frisbie & Ruggles 1875, states that Samuel was born in Kingston NH April 14 1770 and came at age 21 or 22 to Poultney. Based on various Salisbury and Andover records and histories, plus the baptism record, I am confident that he was a son of William. Note also the son named William. Samuel had 8 children, the first 2 died in infancy (History of Rutland County) ( Jamuary/April 2006, Vol. 23 #1-2 page 11.).

Children of Samuel6 Fifield (2879) and Charlotte Hamlin (2880) were as follows:
245. JOSIAH6 FIFIELD (841) (Samuel5, Edward4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 10 Oct 1763 in East Kingston, provincial N.H. He was christened on 22 Apr 1764 in East Kingston, provincial N.H (2nd Church of Christ, record at NH Historical, Church records.). He married Miriam (--?--) (4831) say 1785. He died on 12 Jun 1807 in Poultney, Rutland, Vermont, at age 43 (Bible information, 1828 bible of Nancy Fifield, Poultney VT; copy of pages supplied by David Smith.). His estate was probated on 27 Jul 1807 in Fair Haven, Rutland, Vermont (Probate Fairhaven, Rutland, VT; book 6 pages 256ff. These records end with a further reference to book 7 page 124, but book 7 was one of several destroyed by fire.); Widow Mirriam and Samuel Fifield jointly posted bond of $10,000 for Mirriam to be administrator. The estate was appraised by John How, Esq; Major Asahel Pond & Calvin Tuttle. The inventory showed 119 1/2 acres of land, house, barn, cattle etc for a total value of $1608.01.
Much of the family of Josiah is assumed from entries in the Bible of Nancy Fifield of Poultney, VT which contains only five death records ( Jamuary/April 2006, Vol. 23 #1-2 page 11.). He appeared on the census of 1800 in Poultney, Rutland, Vermont (Heads of Families at the Second Census of the United States taken in the year 1800 Poultney, Rutland, Vt 4 Aug. 1800 The National Archives.); Poultney VT census records indicate several children for Josiah, both male and female. Three sons born 1790-1800 and two daughters, one born 1785-1790 and one born 1790-1800, appear likely.

Children of Josiah6 Fifield (841) and Miriam (--?--) (4831) were as follows:
246. COLONEL SAMUEL6 FIFIELD (842) (Samuel5, Edward4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 22 Aug 1769 in Hopkinton, provincial N.H (Bible Records, typescript, 1933-34DAR Library, Daughters of the American Revolution, Washington, D.C., Page 125, Bible record of Mrs. Mabel Ferguson Douglass, 10 Lafayette Place, Burlington, Vt.). He was born on 2 Aug 1770 in Gilmanton, provincial N.H. He married Sarah Davis (843) on 2 Mar 1797 (Letter, to Peter F. Wells, Letter from descendant Frances Barrow, referencing a family Bible in her possession.). He died on 30 May 1824 in Orange, Orange, Vermont, at age 54 (Vermont Vital Records.). He died on 31 May 1824 in Orange, Orange, Vermont, at age 54 (Bible information, 1828 bible of Nancy Fifield, Poultney VT; copy of pages supplied by David Smith.) (Bible Records, typescript, 1933-34 DAR Library, Page 125, Bible record of Mrs. Mabel Ferguson Douglass, 10 Lafayette Place, Burlington, Vt.) (Newspaper obituary, , Vermont Gazette, 22 June 1824, in Orange 31st ult., Colonel Samuel Fifield.).
He lived in 1797 in Orange, Orange, Vermont; Samuel purchased land in Orange, VT on 10 March 1796 and moved there in 1797 as one of the first settlers immediately after marrying his second wife Sarah Davis. His first wife is unknown, apparently there were no children by her. Samuel stopped at New London, NH on his way home from Boston. Going through a door which he mistook for the office door he entered the cellar, falling down the stairs and breaking his leg. The leg set imperfectly, and he was forced to use crutches from that time on (Descendants of William Fifield, Typed manuscript, circa 1916 New England Historic Genealogical Society, Pages 48-49.).

Children of Colonel Samuel6 Fifield (842) and Sarah Davis (843) were as follows:
247. HANNAH6 FIFIELD (844) (Samuel5, Edward4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 12 Feb 1772 in Gilmanton, provincial N.H (Letter, to Peter F. Wells, Letter 11/4/1994 from descendant Ruth Beecher, 312 Arapahoe Trail, Winter Springs, FL 32708.). She married Stephen Brown (5419), son of Moses Brown (9241) and Mary Hobbs (9253), on 12 Mar 1802 (Ibid., Family group sheet from Ruth B. Beecher.). She died on 3 Jul 1827 at age 55. She was buried in Conneaut, Ashtabula, Ohio.
Hannah and Stephen had 8 children, 2 boys and 6 girls, all born in Wheelock VT, In 1832 they purchased land in Conneaut OH, where they had moved in 1818 (Ibid., Letter 11/4/1994 from descendant Ruth Beecher, 312 Arapahoe Trail, Winter Springs, FL 32708.).

Children of Hannah6 Fifield (844) and Stephen Brown (5419) all born in Wheelock, Caledonia, Vermont, were as follows:
248. COLONEL EDWARD6 FIFIELD (845) (Samuel5, Edward4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 21 Dec 1775 in Gilmanton, Strafford, N.H. He married Sally Bean (846), daughter of Captain John Bean (23729), in 1800 in Canterbury, Rockingham, N.H. He died on 17 Oct 1836 in Conneaut, Ashtabula, Ohio, at age 60.
Edward settled in Wheelock, VT in 1797 at about 21 years of age after purchasing land there. He moved to Ohio about 1815. Information on this part of the family comes from a genealogy done by descendant Henry Fifield of Montpelier VT. The 1850 census for Conneaut shows Sally 65, Luman 48, Sarah 32, James M. 28, Maria 23 (born NY, possibly wife of James) and Edward 7, Jane 5, Henry 6/12. Greenlief is also there with his family. The Bean genealogy lists 12 children for Edward and Sally, by first name only and no dates, but apparently in correct order. James and Marcus are listed separately, but perhaps there was just James Marcus? It also says the first 7 children were born in Wheelock. Edward was a Lieutenant Colonel in the War of 1812. In 1806 his father- in-law, Colonel John Bean of Wheelock, conveyed his Wheelock land to Edward who continued to run the home place as Fifield's Tavern.

Children of Colonel Edward6 Fifield (845) and Sally Bean (846) were as follows:
249. RACHEL6 FIFIELD (848) (Samuel5, Edward4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 22 Dec 1777 in Danville, Caledonia, Vermont (Bible information, DAR Bible records 35:147.). She married Stephen Randall (849). She died on 18 Jan 1868 in Stafford, Genesee, New York, at age 90 (Ibid.).

Children of Rachel6 Fifield (848) and Stephen Randall (849) were as follows:
250. MOSES6 FIFIELD (1564) (David5, Benjamin4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born circa 1762 in Brentwood, Rockingham, N.H. He married Martha West (1565) before 1789. He died on 14 Jul 1821 in Bridgewater, Grafton, N.H (NHVR,: No further information on record.); His gravestone in OldHome Cemetery Bridgewater is not very readable, but appeared to indicate death at age 60 on July 14, 1822. NH vital records say 1821. He was buried in Old Home Cemetery, Bridgewater, Grafton, N.H.
He lived in 1814 in Bridgewater, Grafton, N.H; Moses came to Bridgewater about 1814, and had 3 sons and 6 daughters, according to available information. However, the early census data indicates a possible fourth son. Some information on his move and his family is found in the Grafton County Gazeteer 1709-1886, biographical sketches section.

Children of Moses6 Fifield (1564) and Martha West (1565) were as follows:
251. LYDIA6 FIFIELD (1562) (David5, Benjamin4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 1 Jan 1774 in Brentwood, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., Parents given as David and Betty.). She married Ebenezer Sanborn (1563) on 30 Aug 1796 in Brentwood, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR.).

Children of Lydia6 Fifield (1562) and Ebenezer Sanborn (1563) were:
252. JOSEPH6 MERRILL (7581) (Sarah5 Fifield, Benjamin4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 9 Jul 1777 ("The Decendants of William Fifield."). He married Mary Neal (7582) circa 1805.

Children of Joseph6 Merrill (7581) and Mary Neal (7582) were as follows:
253. RICHARD6 FIFIELD (3238) (Jonathan5, Jonathan4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born say 1769 (The New Hampshire Genealogical Record Volume 21 #1, January 2004.). He married Esther Lane (3239), daughter of Samuel Lane (25134), circa 1796. He died before 1840; Appears in 1830 census but not 1840.
He lived in 1796 in Hampton Falls, Rockingham, N.H (N.H. Town Records : Volume 2 page 283, Hampton Falls.); Elected Surveyor of Highways. He appeared on the census of 1810; Richard appears in Hampton in the 1810 census with his family, and the History of Hampton Falls says that he moved to Piermont in 1816 where his descendants still live. Data from the 1850 census plus gravestone information in Piermont shows that his oldest son was undoubtedly George Washington the next oldest David, and one of his younger sons was Jonathan. The similarity of names (George, Jonathan) tends to confirm that he was associated with George of Hampton Falls. However, I suspect he was the son of George's brother Jonathan, based on his apparent age (census and age of wife) plus the naming of second son David, perhaps after his brother, son of Jonathan. He would be very difficult to fit into the family of George logically. The stones of Esther, Rhoda, Jonathan and Sophia are all together. In the 1850 census Rhoda and George are adjacent, David and Sophia are with Esther. Richard also appears in Piermont in the 1830 census. While in Hampton Falls Richard served as Surveyor of Highways for several years starting as early as 1796, was juror in 1797, petit juror in 1811. He and son Washington were first taxed in Piermont in 1818. He lived in 1814 in Hampton Falls, Rockingham, N.H (N.H. Town Records : Volume 2 page 495.); Registered as a voter. He lived in 1818 in Piermont, Grafton, N.H (N.H. Town Records : Volume 2 page 470.); Taxed.

Children of Richard6 Fifield (3238) and Esther Lane (3239) were as follows:
254. BENJAMIN6 FIFIELD (5474) (Jonathan5, Jonathan4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born in 1774 (Alfred Noon, compiler, Ludlow : a century and a centennial, comprising a sketch of the history of the town of Ludlow, Hampden county, Massachusetts (Springfield, Mass: Clark W. Bryant Company, 1912), Page 392. Hereinafter cited as Ludlow, MA history.). He married Sally Bachelder (5496) on 26 Feb 1801 in Loudon, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR,: No additonal information given.). He died on 3 Jan 1820 in Gilmanton, Strafford, N.H (Probate Strafford co., intestate administration of will.).
This assignment to Jonathan is a reasonable assumption based on the 1790-1810 census figures for Northfield NH and the assumption that Jonathan ended up there. The death of his presumed son Benjamin in Belmont gave only the initials of his parents as B and S, and his birthplace as Northfield. Strafford county probate records show that inventory was taken on June 2 1820 of the estate of Benjamin Fifield of Gilmanton, who died intestate. Sally Fifield was appointed administratrix on 24 March of that year. Accounting on September 5, 1822, included support for a daughter Huldah under 7 years of age. The History of Ludlow, MA, compiled by Alfred Noon in 1912, also discussed the family of Benjamin although it gives the discrepant date of 1859 for his death and refers to Sally as Abigail.

Children of Benjamin6 Fifield (5474) and Sally Bachelder (5496) were as follows:
255. ABRAHAM6 SANBORN (20813) (Miriam5 Fifield, Jonathan4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) ("The Decendants of William Fifield.") (Ibid.) was born on 1 Oct 1787 (Ibid.).

Children of Abraham6 Sanborn (20813) and Sarah (--?--) (26888) were:
256. DOROTHY6 SLEEPER (20661) (Martha5 Fifield, Jonathan4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) ("The Decendants of William Fifield.") (Ibid.) was born on 25 Nov 1769 (Ibid.). She married Benjamin Batchelor (20662) on 17 Apr 1787 (Ibid.). She died in Belmont, Waldo, Maine (E-mail message, e-mail to Peter Fifield Wells, Sherry Norton, [email protected], 6 June 1999.).
She was also known as Dolly Sleeper (20661).

Children of Dorothy6 Sleeper (20661) and Benjamin Batchelor (20662) were:
257. JONATHAN6 FIFIELD (1599) (George5, Jonathan4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 24 Aug 1777 in Hampton Falls, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as George and Mary Marston.). He married Sally Fogg (1601), daughter of David Fogg (25198) and Patience (--?--) (25199). He married Sarah Brown (1600), daughter of John Brown (25147), on 11 Mar 1801 in Seabrook, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., No further information in record.). He died in 1818 (Probate Jonathan's will was processed in 1818.).

Children of Jonathan6 Fifield (1599) and Sally Fogg (1601) were as follows:

Children of Jonathan6 Fifield (1599) and Sarah Brown (1600) were:
258. MOLLY6 FIFIELD (1602) (George5, Jonathan4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 5 Nov 1779 in Hampton Falls, Rockingham, N.H (History of Andover, Typescript manuscript Parents recorded as George and Mary Marston.). She married David Garland (1603) on 21 Oct 1799 in Seabrook, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR.). She died on 29 Jan 1871 at age 91 (James Gray Garland, The Descendants of Peter Garland, Mariner, admitted resident of Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay, in 1637 (Biddeford, Maine: Watson's Illuminator Print, 1897). Hereinafter cited as Garland genealogy.).
Molly lived at Hampton and had 12 children. See The Garland Genealogy, page 90. She was also known as Polly Fifield (1602) (NHVR,: death record of daughter Abbie.).

Children of Molly6 Fifield (1602) and David Garland (1603) were as follows:
259. NANCY6 FIFIELD (1605) (George5, Jonathan4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 9 Oct 1783 in Hampton Falls, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., Parents given as George and Mary Marston.). She on 26 Feb 1803 in Salisbury, Essex, Mass (Topsfield Historical Society, Salisbury Mass VR, James was "of Salisbury."). She married James Tucker (1606) on 24 Apr 1803 in Salisbury, Essex, Mass (Topsfield Historical Society, Salisbury Mass VR.).
Mary lived in Salisbury, MA and had 12 children.

Children of Nancy6 Fifield (1605) and James Tucker (1606) all born in Salisbury, Essex, Mass, were as follows:

She married David Chase (6137) on 2 Feb 1807 in Seabrook, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., No further information in the record.) (Brown, Hampton Falls History, Libby says a daughter married David Chase.) (J. C. & Chamberlain, G. W. Chase, Seven generations of the descendants of Aquila and Thomas Chase (Derry, N.H. [Haverhill, Mass.]: Record Publishing Company, 1928). Hereinafter cited as Chase genealogy.). She died on 14 Sep 1852 at age 64 (Ibid.).

Children of Sally6 Fifield (1608) and David Chase (6137) were:
261. EDWARD6 FIFIELD (1527) (Nathaniel5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 6 Nov 1763 in Salisbury, Essex, Mass (Ibid., Parents recorded as Nathaniel 23 and Janet Cilley 18, 1st child.). He married Polly Moore (1528) circa 1784. He married Catherine Budge (4272), daughter of James Budge (23734) and Margaret Smart (23735), on 4 Jul 1811 (Ruth Gray, editor, Maine Families in 1790 (n.p.: n.pub.). Hereinafter cited as Maine Families in 1790.). He died on 7 Apr 1840 in Garland, Penobscot, Maine, at age 76.
According to the History of Weare Edward removed to Maine. NH vital records for the marriage of his son Robert S. in 1835 confirm this. The 1800 census for Weare indicates that he had 5 each sons and daughters as of that time. The History of Garland, ME says that in 1804 Edward Fifield came from 'Ware' NH, started a homestead, then went back and brought his family. It also says that Mrs. Polly Fifield, his wife, died in 1809. Therefore it seems clear that this is the Edward that was the source of the Garland/Corinna/Dexter area Maine Fifields. Penobscot Co. probate records show the appointment of a guardian for Sumner, a minor over 14 of Bradford and son and heir of Edward of Corinna. Isaac E. of Bradford was the guardian appointed in August of 1847, indicating the death of Edward at that time. This also confirms that Edward remarried, given the death date of his first wife, so the Charlotte, born 1801, wife of Edward buried in Dexter is likely his second wife and the father of the additional children indicated by various records and not the wife of a namesake son. In 1827 there are land transfers in Weare for Samuel Stillman Fifield, a son of Edward (Hillsboro co. book 152 pages 60 & 203.).

Children of Edward6 Fifield (1527) and Polly Moore (1528) were as follows:

Children of Edward6 Fifield (1527) and Catherine Budge (4272) all born in Garland, Penobscot, Maine, were as follows:
262. ABRAHAM6 FIFIELD (1537) (Nathaniel5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born in 1775 in Weare, Hillsborough, N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as Nathaniel 35 and Janet Cilley 30, 6th child.). He married Mary Boynton (1538), daughter of Moses Boynton (9774), on 18 Sep 1800 in Northwood, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., Recorded in Dunbarton, no additional information.). He died on 7 Apr 1813 in Weare, Hillsborough, N.H (Peter Fifield Wells, P. O. Box 152, Rindge, Cheshire, N.H. 03461-0152, 603-899-5460, Weare NH - Abraham died age 38.) (Sugar Hill Cemetery Inscriptions, Weare, N.H. Inscriptions, 1937, Francis L. Childs New Hampshire Historical Society, Page 20, died in his 38th year.). He was buried in Weare, Hillsborough, N.H; Abraham's gravestone gives his date of death as 17 April. His wife Mary's stone says 'Wife of Capt. Abraham.'

Children of Abraham6 Fifield (1537) and Mary Boynton (1538) were as follows:
263. JONATHAN GREELEY6 FIFIELD (1541) (Nathaniel5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 29 May 1780 in Weare, Hillsborough, N.H (NHVR,: Parents give as Nathaniel 40 and Janet Cilley 35, 8th child.). He married Elizabeth Huntington (1542), daughter of John Huntington (12461) and Betsy Hoyt (12462), on 26 May 1811 (Ibid., No further information in record.). He died on 23 May 1833 at age 52 (Little, Weare, N.H.). He died on 28 May 1833 at age 52 (Sugar Hill Cemetery Inscriptions, Weare, N.H. Inscriptions, 1937, Francis L. Childs New Hampshire Historical Society, Page 5.). He was buried in Sugar Hill Cemeteery, Weare, Hillsborough, N.H (FAG, online unknown url, Memorial #50051412.).
The family of Jonathan G. is not well documented. I have no proof for the addition of sons Francis and Charles H., but scanty evidence seems to support the surmise.

Children of Jonathan Greeley6 Fifield (1541) and Elizabeth Huntington (1542) were as follows:
264. AVERY6 FIFIELD (3250) (Joseph5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 7 Apr 1782 in Haverhill, Grafton, N.H. He married Sarah Roberts Lunt (1321), daughter of Micajah Lunt (7949) and Mary Small (7948), in 1804 in Deer Isle, Hancock, Maine (Stephen E Sullivan, "The Ancestry and Descendants of Avery Fifield of Deer Isle, Maine," The American Genealogist (1991, January): 33. Hereinafter cited as "Avery Fifield."). He died on 13 Sep 1845 in at sea at age 63 (Maine Old Cemetery Association, MOCA, Hancock Co. Stonington, Matthews-Fifield Cemetery. '1783-1845.'); Mackerel fishing. He was buried in Stonington, Hancock, Maine.
Information on Avery is from The Ancestry and Descendants of Avery Fifield by Stephen E. Sullivan in TAG, and as presented in Maine Families in 1790 edited by Ruth Gray. Elaine Dembowski, also a descendant, has enhanced and greatly expanded Sullivan's information on Avery and his descendants. Avery died while mackeral fishing (George L. Hosmer, An Historical Sketch of the Town of Deer Isle, Maine (Boston: Stanley and Usher, 1886), Page 158, Family of Avery, and page 102, Family of Small. Hereinafter cited as Deer Isle.).

Children of Avery6 Fifield (3250) and Sarah Roberts Lunt (1321) were as follows:
265. ELIZABETH6 FIFIELD (1322) (Joseph5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 10 Apr 1784. She married John Stevens (10454) on 19 Feb 1816 in Piermont, Grafton, N.H (NHVR.); In the 1850 census for Piermont on page 196, John Fifield, age 71, appears with his sister and family.

Children of Elizabeth6 Fifield (1322) and John Stevens (10454) were as follows:
266. JOSEPH6 FIFIELD (3248) (Joseph5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 18 Feb 1787 in Piermont, Grafton, N.H. He married Anna Bedel (3249) on 14 Feb 1810 in Bath, Grafton, N.H (NHVR,: No further information in record.). He married Lucinda (--?--) (3253) on 23 Oct 1853 in Bath, Grafton, N.H (Ibid., no further information in record.). He died on 16 Oct 1872 in Bath, Grafton, N.H., at age 85 (Probate Grafton co. will of Joseph.). He was buried in Bath, Grafton, N.H.
Joseph removed to Bath NH and apprenticed himself to John Haddock at the age of 16 (Inhabitants of Bath - an address by Rev. David Sutherland, Bath NH history). He died age 85 (headstone & NH vital records). It appears from probate records that he married second Lucinda, as she was named executor as his wife to Joseph who died 1872 in Bath, and James S., Daniel S., John and daughter Fanny R. Kaufman are named in the records. The 1830 census shows more children in the family than are recorded in the vital records, so I have added Daniel, John and Fanny.

Children of Joseph6 Fifield (3248) and Anna Bedel (3249) all born in Bath, Grafton, N.H, were as follows:

There were no children of Joseph6 Fifield (3248) and Lucinda (--?--) (3253).
267. SAMUEL6 FIFIELD (1222) (David5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 19 Jul 1772 in Stratham, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., Parents given as David 23 and Abigail 26.). He married Abigail Leavitt (1223), daughter of Joseph Leavitt (10007), on 7 Apr 1803 in Portsmouth, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., No further information in record, Abigail is 'Nabby.'). He died on 4 Jun 1847 in Berlin, Washington, Vermont, at age 74 (Vermont Vital Records,: Age 74, 10, 5.) (David C. Young & Robert L. Taylor, Death Notices from Freewill Baptist Publications 1811-1851. (Bowie MD: Heritage Books Inc., 1985). Hereinafter cited as Freewill Baptist Deaths.). He was buried in Berlin, Washington, Vermont. He was buried in Berlin, Washington, Vermont.
The Cowles genealogy speaks of Elbridge Gerry Fifield, son of Samuel, born in Gilmanton 1817, moved to Bolton VT 1820, and to Wisconsin in 1837. It claims he was the only son, but the VT census for Bolton and a history by descendant Charles (8) L. Fifield says otherwise. There is also the death in Berlin VT on 2 Jan 1846 of Samuel B. age 24. Papers for the estate of Samuel's mother Abigail (Stratham co., NH) ca. 1809 refer to a note to Samuel Fifield for $58.19 from which nothing can be collected.

Children of Samuel6 Fifield (1222) and Abigail Leavitt (1223) were as follows:
268. BETSEY6 FIFIELD (1549) (David5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 25 Feb 1773 in Stratham, Rockingham, N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as David 23 and Abigail 26. Recorded in Belmont.). She married Samuel Gilman III (5647) on 15 Nov 1792 in Gilmanton, Strafford, N.H (NHVR.) ( Page 135.); Reverend Walter Powers.

Children of Betsey6 Fifield (1549) and Samuel Gilman III (5647) were:

She was also known as Polly (1550). The will of her mother Abigail written in 1809 refers to daughter Mary Tilton.

Children of Mary6 Fifield (1550) and Jesse Tilton (4013) were:
270. ABIGAIL6 FIFIELD (1551) (David5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 29 Mar 1778 in Stratham, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., The birth record gives her parents as David 29 and Abigail 31.). She married Archelaus Moore (1552) on 24 May 1801 in Gilmanton, Strafford, N.H (NHVR.). She died on 7 Jul 1852 at age 74. She was buried in Loudon, Merrimack, N.H.

Children of Abigail6 Fifield (1551) and Archelaus Moore (1552) were as follows:
271. RUTH6 FIFIELD (1554) (David5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 21 Apr 1782 in Gilmanton, Strafford, N.H (Ibid., Parents recorded as David 33 and Abigail 35.). She married Ebenezer L. Nealey (4177) on 9 Sep 1809 in New Hampton, Strafford, N.H (NHVR.). She died circa 1852 (E-mail message, e-mail to Peter Fifield Wells, Descendant.).

Children of Ruth6 Fifield (1554) and Ebenezer L. Nealey (4177) were as follows:
272. DAVID6 FIFIELD (1557) (David5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 6 Mar 1786 in Gilmanton, Strafford, N.H (NHVR,: Parents given as Daniel 36 and Abigail 39.); Belmont was originally part of Gilmanton, known as Upper Gilmanton. It was officially split in 1859. He married Grace Whitcher (1558) on 16 Nov 1808 in Sanbornton, Strafford, N.H (Ibid., Only the first initial of the groom is given.). He died in 1863 in Holderness, Grafton, N.H.

Children of David6 Fifield (1557) and Grace Whitcher (1558) were:
273. HANNAH6 FIFIELD (1560) (David5, John4, Edward3, Benjamin2, William1) was born on 19 May 1792 in Gilmanton, Strafford, N.H (Ibid., Parents recorded as David 43 and Abigail 45.). She married Joseph Leavitt (1561), son of Joseph Leavitt (10007), on 21 Nov 1811 in Gilmanton, Strafford, N.H (NHVR.). She died on 21 Nov 1856 in Gilmanton, Strafford, N.H., at age 64. She was buried in Gilmanton, Strafford, N.H (Letter, to Peter F. Wells, Pedigree chart from descendant Jean Bolenbaker.).

She married Jesse Woodbury (1578) on 6 Nov 1815 in Unity, Cheshire, N.H (NHVR,: Unity Vital Record book 1 page 68, supplied by Kathy Beals in letter.). She died on 1 Jan 1857 at age 68.
Lucy had a child Orpha by Jonathan Critchet.

Children of Lucy6 Fifield (1576) and Jonathan Critchet (1577) were:

There were no children of Lucy6 Fifield (1576) and Jesse Woodbury (1578).

The deed gives his two sisters, for the one-time payment of $30, leases for life on a portion of the house that was conveyed to him by his stated father Mark. Various other deeds have Shadrack buying property and renting it to his parents for very nominal sums, e.g. $10 per year for property purchased for $2000.

Children of David6 Fifield (1376) and Lucy Colburn (6470) were as follows:
301. PAUL6 FIFIELD (10109) (Daniel5, Stephen4, Henry3, William2, William1) was born on 29 Sep 1795 in N.H (Letter, to Peter F. 302. WILLIAM6 FIFIELD (3202) (Daniel5, Stephen4, Henry3, William2, William1) was born circa 1797 in N.H; The parents of William are unknown. One theory is that he was the son of Daniel and Mary. A family Bible says that his mother was named Mary, and because of that, Daniel appears to be a reasonable candidate for father. However, William did not appear with Daniel in the Vermont warnings out. He married Nancy Bedell (5198) in 1824. He died on 25 Mar 1842; William's date of death is from his headstone as supplied by Carol Nedeau, historian of Mooers, NY. Researchers Alvin and John Fifield have supplied data on the descendants, assumptions having been made. He was buried in Chazy, Clinton, New York.
He lived in 1830 in Plattsburgh, Clinton, New York.

Children of William6 Fifield (3202) and Nancy Bedell (5198) were as follows:
303. JONATHAN6 FIFIELD (3314) (Daniel5, Stephen4, Henry3, William2, William1) was born on 7 Mar 1799 in Stratham, Rockingham, N.H (Ibid., Brandon, Oakland, Mich; page 687.) (findagrave, online www.findagrave.com, Memorial #46116698.). He married Sarah Elizabeth (Sally) Fisher (3315), daughter of Jeremiah Fisher (27482) and Jessie? (--?--) (27548). He died on 21 Jul 1865 in Oakland, Michigan, at age 66 (Ibid.). He was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Stratham, Oakland, Michigan (Ibid.).
Information on Jonathan and his descendants is in Sheppard's notes, supplied from Mrs. George Haynes of Dryden, MI. He appears in the 1850 census in Brandon, along with several of his children. His birthplace and that of Sally are given as NH. According to descendant Alvin Fifield, Jonathan moved to Vermont sometime before 1820; moved to Clinton Co. NY about 1825 and lived there until 1832, when they bought land in Oakland Co. MI and moved there.
He witnessed the warned out of Daniel Fifield (5823) on 14 Nov 1805 in Groton, Caledonia, Vermont (Rollins, Vermont Warnings, Page 97, Daniel, Jonathan, Paul and Miriam.); It is unclear whether Miriam was a wife (who could have died) or a daughter. He lived circa 1825 in Clinton, New York. He lived on 15 Sep 1832 in Troy, Oakland, Michigan; Purchased land and relocated.

Children of Jonathan6 Fifield (3314) and Sarah Elizabeth (Sally) Fisher (3315) were as follows:
304. JOSEPH6 FIFIELD (5829) (Daniel5, Stephen4, Henry3, William2, William1) was born circa 1802 in Vermont; Assignment of Joseph to Daniel is strictly a guess, based on the VT birthplace. If he was a son of Daniel, why was he not warned out with the others in 1805? He married Adaline Daniel (5840) on 19 Sep 1838 in Medina, Ohio (E-mail message, e-mail to Peter Fifield Wells, 28 July 1999 from Ron Fullmer, [email protected], referencing Volume A, page 185, Medina County marriage index.).

He married Minerva Handy (14393), daughter of David Handy (24731), on 4 Oct 1842 in Hadley, Lapeer, Michigan (GenalogyLibrary, online http://www.familytreemaker.com, Michigan Marriages from 1840 to 1899. Information retrieved 31 December 1998.) ( 32:68.); I assume this is the Frederick who married Minerva; I see no other possibilities. He married Eunice Ann Simons (5847), daughter of Eunice (--?--) (20951), on 15 Oct 1846 in Atlas, Genesee, Michigan (Ancestry, online www.ancestry.com, Simons family Tree, 4/11/2020.). He lived in 1874 in Kansas ("Pension record", Pension certificate 1233.177, National Records and Archives Administration.). He was obituary From The Westmoreland Signal, Westmoreland, Pottawatomie County, Kansas, Friday, March 3, 1905, page 8: "F. B. Fifiled [sic], who died Peru, Chautauqua county, this week, was 94 years old and had lived in Kansas since 1874. Mr Fifield cast his first vote in New York in 1831, and one year later voted for Henry Clay for President against Andrew Jackson who was in that year elected for a second term. since then Mr. Fifield has voted for the following Presidential candidates: Harrison in 1836 and 1840; Henry Clay, 1844; Zachary Taylor, 1848; . . .[the list goes on] Uncle Fred Fifield located in Spring Creek township upon arriving here in 1874, together with his wife and sons, Earl, Marvin and Elmer; and removed to Westmoreland in the early '80s. The wife died here, and after awhile he, with his son Elmer and family, removed to southern Kansas. He was born in November, 1810, which made him 94 years and 3 months old at the time of his death. He was a peculiar man; for instance, he thought that the drinking of water was simply a habit, and should be done away with for the good of the health. He declared to us just a short while before leaving here that 'I do not think I have drank a pint of water in eight years.' When asked as to how he got along on so small amount of liquid matter, replied that he drank a cup of tea at each meal and would not allow himself to drink between meals. Uncle Fred was a genial, whole-souled old man, without an enemy so far as we have knowledge and there are a lot of folks hereabouts who will learn of his death with profound sorrow." on 3 Mar 1905 in Westmoreland Signal, Westmoreland, Pottawatomie, Kansas.

John C. appears in the 1850 census with his family. It is assumed that this is the correct John C., since his father Samuel removed to Sanbornton for a time and his sister Susanna was born there.

Children of John Calvin6 Fifield (1638) and Sarah Call (1639) both born in Sanbornton, Belknap, N.H, were as follows:

The story of Andrew is told in the History of Bradford, VT. He was the subject of a lost child hunt. While I have some confidence that this Andrew removed to the Bolton area of P.Q. and had the indicated family there, I have not been able to find any proof. There is the slight possibility that the apparent Andrew who was there was the son of the Josiah who was in the Albany, Vt area and had a son in the appropriate age range. Josiah was the son of Edward and there is an Edward in Andrew's apparent family. However, note also the presence of Absolam, perhaps after the brother of the presumed Andrew, plus Daniel, perhaps after his father. Andrew served in the Vermont Militia, 2nd Regiment (Fifield's), in the War of 1812. He appeared on the census of 1830 in Topsham, Orange, Vermont.

He died before 29 May 1827 in Topsham, Orange, Vermont (: Orange county Vermont; deed book 7 page 338, abstracted by Joyce Cantu.); On 29 May 1827 Daniel Fifield of Topsham deed land and all personal estate of Absalom Fifield to Diadema Fifield after the death of Absalom; land being same parcel deeded by David to Absalom.

(Heads of Families at the Fifth Census of the United States taken in the year 1830 Dorchester, Grafton, N.H 1 June 1830.); Although Dorothy's birth was not recorded along with the rest of the children, the 1830 census confirms the existence of a daughter in her age range. She married Horace Blake (10059) on 27 Oct 1851 in Manchester, Hillsborough, N.H (NHVR,: Both bride and groom given as from Manchester. Is this the right Fifield-Blake pair?). She died on 20 Feb 1901 in Haverhill, Grafton, N.H., at age 71 (Ibid., Father given as "Fifield," age 73, birthplace Dorchester, N.H.) (Blake, Jasper Blake, Page 81; book says 19 or 20 February.).
