Hello Christopher,
I have received copies of some letters that Andrew Jackson Byrd wrote home
during the Civil War. In one of his letters from May 1864, Andrew is
talking about his transfer to Virginia and lists people that he has seen.
One of the people mentioned is Malcolm Baker son of Jackson Baker. Malcolm
sends his love to Jane Byrd nee Gaskins and the Children. Is this your
Malcolm?
I am still digging into John Baker of Sumter. Found the first deed for him,
1817 in Sumter, selling land. John was already a resident of Sumter.
Haven't found the deed where he bought the land. Wife was Polly Baker. I
think that she may be related to Nathan Patrick son of Micajah Fitch (Fitz)
Patrick.
