89. ROBERT J. LACY ⁽¹⁾ was born on 25 Aug 1815 in LOUISA CO., VA.. He died on 1 Oct 1886. 1. Note written by my mother, Nina Marie (Tod) Lacy "Grandfather Lacy-born Lynchburg, Virginia 1815. Died 1886. Died at age 71 yrs. Farmed 61.3 acres"

The 1830 cencus of Louisa Co, Va. shows Stephen Lacy, father of Robert J Lacy,had neighbors in Louisa Co.,Va. Charles, William and Rhoda Nichols. According to that cencus, Charles and William Nichols had daughters who were born circa 1825 whic
h would make them marrying age in 1847. This indicates that Robert J Lacy probably took his first wife, last name "Nichols" from his neighborhood in Louisa Co., Va. The 1850 Harrison Co. Texas cencus shows Robert J Lacy's wife as "Caroline A .
Nichols".

Sometime between 1850 and 1860. Robert J Lacy and fasmily moved to Rusk County, Texas where he farmed near the community of Crossroads, Texas.

The Vital Records Archives, CD #103, U.S Canadian Marriages, show Robert J Lacy marrying "Agness C. Nichols" 26apr1845. "Carloine A. Nichols" and "Agness C. Nichols" are obviously the same person with first and middle names transposed. Their f
irst child, Rosalee, was born 17mar1846 but died within 6 months.

The Rusk Co.,Tex census of 1860 and 1870 spell the name "Lacey" which is incorrect but is probably due to the fact that Robert J Lacy couldn't write, as proven by his signing with an "X" and didn't correct the cencus takers mistake.

He was married to CATHARINE ANN BARRON on 16 Sep 1857 in Rusk Co Tex. CATHARINE ANN BARRON ⁽¹⁾ was born on 7 Mar 1830. She died on 25 Jul 1872. ROBERT J. LACY and CATHARINE ANN BARRON had the following children:

He was married to MARTHY A. KING on 8 Nov 1872. MARTHY A. KING ⁽¹⁾ was born about 1840. ROBERT J. LACY and MARTHY A. KING had the following children:

226 ii. NOAH(?) LACY⁽¹⁾ was born about 1874. 1880 Rusk Co., Tex cencus seens to spell this name "Nova". "The Stephen Lacy Family, etc" book spells the name "Noah". I have a tendency to believe the latter.
+227 iii. ARTHUR HERMAN LACY.
+228 iv. WALTER SCOTT LACY.

He was married to CAROLINE A. NICHOLS about 1874. CAROLINE A. NICHOLS ⁽¹⁾ was born on 16 Jun 1827. She died on 1 Oct 1856. ROBERT J. LACY and CAROLINE A. NICHOLS had the following children:
