Monday, Oct 26

Real cold out but sun shinig. Got book of Jean “High Courage.” Ordered taffeta dress. Read most of afternoon. Dot. T. in in pm. Went to fire at Grover Grim's Garage. Betty S. came in after school. I typed a couple of drills for her. Got grapes & walked home. Got ride part way [shorthand symbol for “with”] Hildred C. [later added – Kretziner] Had chicken supper. I over ate again! Mom, Dad & Buss to show. I did dishes & went to bed early.


Tuesday, Oct 27

Terribly cold out. I just couldn't get the store warmed up at all. Studied shorthand and typing awhile. Finished “Fighting Courage.” Jean came down. She met Charlie!! Helen, Edith L., Edith P., down after school. Edith L. & I ate supper with Helen. Had sandwiches, choc. milk, Burch bits, mixed fruits. More fun! Went to Bank Nite “Educating Father” – the Jone's Family. Over to Hamberger shop afterwards waiting for Erna. Ate lunch. Kided each other about Paul & the Bluebird.

Wednesday, Oct 28

A little warmer out! Read my book nearly all day long. Went home early at nite. Got ready to come in to town. Went with Norma to get her hair cut at Shannon 's. We won ball game from Manning! After game Pete, Norma, Don & I were going to free show but it was too crowded so Pete took me out home. I beat Leo in! Edith elected Queen!


Thursday, Oct 29

Quite cold out again. I studied shorthand & typing. Got 9 ready to send in. Betty down after school & I typed for her. Did the shopping & went home. Did all the ironing. Marion & Paul came out home to skip Chivari crowd. Gave us Candy & Cigars. They were married Saturday. “Wedding Bells are Breaking Up that Old Gang of Mine.” Grandest Moon!


Friday, Oct 30

Not so cold out. Read awhile & then Harold came in & stayed most of the morning! Went to Ted to have my hair fixed during the Noon Hour. Marian W. here for awhile. Harold here in am. & pm. Don W. here in pm. Edith here after school. Did shopping & I drove Lund 's car home. Left for Carroll dance about 9:00. In Orrin's car. Max, Orrin, Harold, Edith, Pete & I. Don & Norma were there too. Had lot of fun. Ate at Lincoln . [added later: (Cafer)]


Saturday, October 31

Tired in morning. Ruth down at store with me. Ate at Church Bazaar. I drove car out home in pm. Cleaned whole house & did up work. Went in to town after Dad. Ruth and I to Marian's shower at Berneice's at night. Halloweener's pushed my car into the telephone pole. Ruth, Pat & I rode around awhile & then I went home about 11:00.

Sunday, November 1

Up rather late. Set my hair & straightened the house. Folks went to Aunt Louise's. I stayed home alone. Fixed my dress, cleaned shoes, read and listened to radio. Took a bath. Pete came at 7:30 & we went to “Rhythm on Range” – Surely was good! Don, Norma, Don A., Pete & I at S. Café afterwards. Pete put salt in my cocoa so I ordered a “roll” & everyone ate it but me. “New Road”. “Rather strange.” “1st anniversary.” “Marry the girl!” “Oh Boy.” “What is this, any How?”
