Ford to the legal heirs of Sabra Duncum decd; to which reference is here made for further particulars relative to the same, ... division of land; James Jones and wife Lucy take the lot containing five acres with the mansion house, Billy Dunkum the lot adj. Ferdinand G. Coleman containing 21-1/2 acres, Jo Dunkum the remaining lot containing 18-1/2 acres adj. Nancy John, all of which is by mutual consent. Plat drawn with borders. It was further agreed that the spring should remain in opinion??? free to all the above named legatees, viz, Billy Dunckum, Joe Dunckum and James Jones and wife Lucy.       28-584: 2 Oct. 1858, Wm. Dunkum, free man of color, to Creed D. Coleman, doth grant a certain tract or parcel of land in Cumberland Co. VA adj. the land of Ferdinand G. Coleman and others, being the land descended from the estate of Sabra Dunkum decd "(his mother)" by descent in part and by purchase from other legatees of Sabra Duncan decd. in part, containing in all by survey & division 22 and 1/2 acres more or less; in trust to secure a debt due said Coleman of $107.50 for cash lent, as per bond executed by said Billy Dunkum, on demand, of the date hereof with legal interest thereon. The right and title to said lot to the said Creed D. Coleman his heirs and assigns the said Billy Dunkum warrants severally conditioned as follows; that if Billy Dunkum fails in 12 months from date hereof to pay and satisfy the demand of Coleman according to the bond, that Coleman shall have authority to sell the land, after advertisement, to the highest bidder, and pay the ballance if any to said Wm.       28-638: 4 March 1859, Lucy Jones, a free woman of colour, sometimes called Lucy Dunkum, to Hez. Ford, grant to said Hez. Ford the following property, to wit, lot or parcel of land containing 5 acres upon which the said Lucy now resides and which was allotted to her in the division of the estate of "her mother" Sabra Dunkum decd, in Cumberland Co. VA on the road leading to New Canton; also personal property: sow, household furniture, &c, in trust to secure a debt due to Jo Dunkum a free man of colour of $25 as per bond executed by said Lucy of this date and due on demand; the right and title to the said lot of land & other property, Lucy warrants generally; Lucy to pay the $25 with interest within six months or Hez. Reynolds a commissioner to execute the deed on behalf of the justices; now this deed 20 Sept. 1859 between said Barnard Meador, Overton Meador, Valentine Meador, Moses J. Dunkum grantee of Bennett Meador and Benjamin J. Robinson trustee for Jesse Meador of the first part to Ann M. Booker of the other part, for $1408.39 paid under the decree of the Circuit Court in the suit above mentioned, and in obedience to the above mentioned decree of August term 1859 of said court, the said ... convey to Ann M.       29-446: 2 July 1866, Lucy J. Anderson to H.W. Griffith, both Cumberland Co. VA, all right etc. to 110 acres of which her father Moses Dunkum died, one undivided ninth, also her interest in 40 acres now held by Jane Parker for her life, also 200 acres her grandfather John Dunkum died owning, now held by Jane Parker for life, she the widow of John Dunkum decd, and personal property; mortgage; debt due from Lucy J. Anderson to Willis W. Dunkum executed Jan. 1866, for $500. (FHL film 30,758)
      MAD: Looking for deed from Hezekiah Ford, commissioner, to legal heirs of Sabra Duncan, before Oct. 1857 -- nothing indexed to Dunkum, Wood, Gormas, etc., in either grantor or grantee indexes.
