Texas Pension Record, file number not given, of Ann Marie Swan, widow of Confederate veteran Robert Franklin Swan (information from Virginia Moss Flesher 3/2004; she is researching the SWAN family)
      One person who testified that he knew them both, was G.W. Duncan, who listed his age as 61 in Feb 1905. He said he knew them for about 40 years, was neighbor to them in Tippah Co MS, confirms he saw Robert at his home when he was wounded, and that Robert SWAN has been in TX since about 1880. G.W. Duncan stated he himself, resided in Mt Pleasant, Titus Co TX.
      (VM note: This SWAN family did come to TX about 1880, and resided in McLennan Co, Titus Co and Fannin Co.)

      Did not copy other Duncans, was looking only for heirs of J.W. Duncan, did not find 1875 grant.

      G-20/21: Field notes of survey for Deed E-50 for 160 acres for heirs of J.D. Duncan; survey is #530 in Titus Co. on waters of Big Cypress adj. survey for Saml. Johnson, W.S.       George W. Duncan, 7 Sept. 1846, left sick in Titus Co. TX; Private in Mexican War, mustered or enlisted 10 June 1846 at Knoxville [Knox Co.] TN as Private in Co.K, Mounted Infantry; Private George W. Duncan left sick at Washington, AR, 3 Sept., absent by reason of sickness reported last muster, not yet rejoined company (entry 31 Dec. 1846); left sick in Titus Co. TX and died at that place, though his death has not been officially announced (entry 1 May 1846); died in TX - precise time not known, left there sick 7 Sep 1846 (entry 31 May 1847).       Pg.109 contains the family of John Duncan and wife Malinda, 1860 Tippah Co. MS, father of George Washington "Washie" Duncan, born 16 July 1848, died 11 March 1928, mar. 25 March 1869 in Tippah Co. MS to Mary Elizabeth Rountree, both bur. Liberty Hill Cemetery, Titus Co. TX. The book contains much more on this family.
