Pg.1147, Union Co.: John C. Buckner, miller, farmer and stock dealer, was born in Grainger (now Union) Co. December 29, 1826, the son of Col. Ezra and Elizabeth (Duncan) Buckner, the former born Nov. 14, 1797, in Knox Co., and died in this county Oct. 4, 1862; and the latter born in this county in 1800, and died March 12, 1883. Both were members of the Baptist Church. The father's family were from VA, he being a farmer and a colonel in the militia, and served in the war of 1812. Our subject, the third of 10 children, received a common school education, and September 12, 1850, married Nancy Miller, ...
