Documents dated 1852 through 1855 include an undated deposition of Martin Hancock which names the heirs of John Arnold as: William F. Moore & wife Elizabeth, Grissom Lee & wife Lucy, Jeremiah Gaither & wife Nancy, Naman G. Norton & wife Lanora, Phillip Beunes & wife Tabitha, William Arnold, John Arnold, William Duncan & Matilda his wife Matilda is dead and left as her children: William Jacobs & wife Anna, Marshall Duncan, Elizabeth Anderson & her husband Thomas Anderson, William Duncan & Eveline; John D. Gregory & wife Mary who is dead leaving as her children: Lucy, Mary Ann, Malissa, and Eveline. SW corner a beech & mullberry corner of 5 acre tract in the name of John Wiser at 46 poles in all north 87 poles to a stake & white oak in the south boundary line of Shaw's land then west with said line 226 poles to a stake in Ferrill's east boundary line then south with his line 87-1/2 poles to hickory Ferrill SE corner then east to the beginning, containing 123-1/2 acres. This conveyance is made to the said Mary M. Simpson ... free from the debts or control of any husband she may marry. Duncan desire to carry out any wish our father may have had, now in consequence of the premises and in full satisfaction of all claim that the said Narcissa Elizabeth Dye may have upon the estate of said H.L.
