      1-136: I, William Duncan Senior of Washington Township, Jefferson Co. PA, weak in body but sound in memory and mind, do make the underneath my last will and testament. I bequeath to my son William the 1/2 of the farm on the west side of the place adjoining lands of Samuel Parsten? and 1/2 the stock and 1/2 the house furniture with all the farming utensils, the other half I bequeath to my daughter Jene with the exception of $25 to my daughter Catharine, the above legatees shall be in full possession of all legacies after my decease and payment of all my lawful debts and burying expenses. My desire is that William and Jene should live on the place as heretofore if the[y] can agree and I trust in the Lord God they may live in the bond peace. I hope the executor of this my will should endeavor by every reasonable means and measure to keep them from seperating but if it can't reasonably be done the[y] may seperate and each shall have full power to do with their share as they please. I want Andrew and Matthew Smith to be my executors. I do acknowledge this to be my last will and testament. X his mark William Dunken, Sr. In presence of James Smith, this 28th of January 1857. PA to Doctor Stephen Duncan of Natchez, MS, for $17,000 paid, sell lots or real estate, 90 acres of out lots in Borough of Carlisle lying north of said Borough and adj. the heirs of Robert Blaine decd & others; a lot of ground on the Conedequinett Creek in North Middleton Twp. containing 10 acres more or less purchased of the late David Williamson; an undivided moiety or half part of a tract of land in North and South Middleton Townships and lying on both sides of the turnpike about 2 miles from Carlisle containing in the whole 225 acres more or less, sometimes called "Duffy's Tract"; one town lot with small tenement thereon in the Borough of Carlisle on the old College Alley; a lot of woodland on the north mountain adj. Nicholas Ulrich & others purchased of the late Lt. James Gustine containing 10 acres more or less, another lot of woodland in Hopewell twp. purchased of Walter Bell containing 35 acres more or less, a tract of land in Indiana Co. containing 1600 acres more or less purchased of Colonel Arthur F.       "This was an action brought by the Plaintiff against the defendant for having charged him with stealing hogs out of his pen. The plea of justification being relied on by the defendant, the jury, after a few minutes absence from their box, brought in a verdict for the plaintiff of three thousand five hundred dollars."
