      35-236/238: 1 March 1825, Peter Addams, guardian appointed by Orphans Court of Berks Co. of the estate of David Metler and Abraham Metler, minor sons of David Metler late of Bern Twp. in Berks Co. decd and Joseph Metler also a son of said David Metler decd. of same Twp, to George Duncan of Berks Co. PA; that David Metler became owner in his lifetime of a tract in Bern Twp. of 124 acres, by will 19 Oct. 1818 he devised the land to his sons David Metler, Abraham Metler and Joseph Metler and their heirs; that at an Orphans Court for said County on the petition of said Daniel Metler (MAD: looks like Daniel, not David) and Abraham Metler, the said Peter Addams was duly appointed guardian of the estate of said David Metler and Abraham Metler during their minority, and it appearing to the court that said David Metler, Abraham Metler, and David Metler (MAD: sic) were not possessed of a personal estate adequate to [pay to] their sisters Elizabeth Metler and Catharine Metler [they petition for order for land to be sold] ...       This book includes the Bible Record of Hugh Duncan, born Dec. 23, 1799, wife Rachel Glass, and Bibles of several of their descendants, and information about the Duncan family from Erie Co. PA to Mahoning Co. OH, starting with James Duncan, b.1769 IRE, died 1861 at North East, PA; settled first in Berks Co. PA, where he married Nancy Beatty; moved to Canonsburg [Washington Co.], PA, about 1799; resided there until 1802; and finally located at North East, [Erie Co.] PA, where he lived until the time of his death.
