      #132: Feb. 1825 term of Perquimans County Court, on petition of Joshua Newby, one of heirs in right of his wife, to sell real estate of Benja. Smith decd; court ordered that Alfred Moore Esq., Mathew Jordan, Benjamin Berry, Cader? Felton Sr. and Martin Ross Jr., or any four, be commissioners with the county surveyor to divide lands of Benja. Smith. Lot #1, adj. Massle? T. Barrons and Joshua Newby, on waterway (unnamed on plat), 74 acres to Mary Jordan in right of her father Benjan. Jordan. Lot #2 of 74 acres to Joshua Newby in right of his wife Margaret. Plat shows 148 acres on NE side Cadin Felton's Mill pond adj. Theophilus Barron's line and others. Return 12 Aug. 1825 by Alfred Moore, M. Jordan, C. Felton Sr., Benja. Jordan; they divided the lands of Benjamin Smith decd. in right of his wife among his legal representatives, allot to Mary Jordan the only rep. of Benja. Jordan decd, lot 1; and to Joshua Newby in right of his wife Margaret, lot #2; Nov. term 1825, ordered registered; reg. 1 March 1836. (MAD: Deed FF#256, 1858, James G.       FF #256: 14 July 1858, James G. Duncan and wife Mary (X) of Monroe Co. IN to Joseph G. Granbery of Perquimans Co. NC, $600, land in Perquimans Co. adj. lands of Richard Fellon, John S. (L?) Riddick (formerly Joshua Newley (Vewley?) in right of his wife), and said Joseph G. Granbery (formerly Jos. W. Bander?) & others, being the lands descended to said Mary from Benj. W. Smith and wife Rosanna, described in plat of division of lands of Benj. W. Smith decd on record in Reg. Office, containing by estimation 74 acres; wit. Peter Koh? (Kop?), H.J. Nichols. They appeared in Monroe Co. IN on 14 July 1858; reg. Perquimans Co. NC 17 April 1860. (FHL film 370,607)
      MM #491: (blank) Jan. 1877, James H. Duncan owes Andrew J. White $400 with interest from 17 Jan. 1877 by three several notes, one for $200 due 1 Jan. 1878 and two each for $100 due 1 Jan. 1879; to secure the loan for purchase of land, mortgage land in Woodville, Perquimans Co., this day conveyed by A.J.       1-342: 30 Oct. 1878, James H. Duncan & wife Mary E. (X) of Perquimans Co. NC owe Frank E. Winslow $150 due by note 19 Sept. 1877, interest at 8%, payable 1 Dec. 1877, for purchase of horse; in order to secure note, this 5 Sept. 1878, they assign to Winslow their interest in 50 acres in Pasquotank Co. VA, being part of John Lam tract, bounded S & E by Halls Bank, N by main road, and adj. lands of Frank Bundy and John Rankhorn, being our undivided half of land in deed from Cartwright C. Jackson to William Charles, trustee for Sarah Duncan, mother of said J.H. Duncan, and from whom said J.H. Duncan heired his interest, said deed dated 6 Dec. 1845. Wit. Wm. Nixon JP.
