NC, sold said Isham Gunter such part and share as Lucy Dunken, dau. of John Gunter, late of Jones Co. decd, and now the wife of John Dunkin; ... part thereof and share that I am entitled in right of my wife Lucy Dunkin of the estate of the late Samuel Gunter dec. of Lexington Co. SC ... said John Gunter and Samuel Gunter, decd.; wit. Zachr. Harmon, James Lasater.
"Abstracts of Records of Jones Co. NC 1779-1868" by Zae Hargett Gwynn (FHL book 975.621 N2a)
This book contains abstracts of many early records of Jones Co. NC which should be consulted. The early Deeds include deeds in 1809 from Jacob Rhodes to his children including a daughter Barbara Duncan, 1812-1814 deeds to and from Edmund Dunkin, a reference in an 1838 deed by Henry Shute of Craven Co. NC to William Dunkin and wife; and deeds in 1833 from William Duncan and wife Civil, dau. of Isaac Kornegay. There are numerous other references to early Duncans.
MAD: One William Dunkan lived in Jones Co. NC when he sold land in 1809 in Duplin Co. NC to John Flowers of Wayne Co. NC (from Duplin Co. NC Deed 4A-92, in "Duplin Co. NC Abstract of Deeds 1784-1813" Vol.1, by Eleanor Smith Draughon)

This book contains the obituary of James Duncan, who was born in Duplin Co. NC in 1802; his parents moved to Jones Co. [NC] when he was a child, where he lived until 1827 when he moved to Upson Co. [GA]; he died 15 Nov. 1860 in Taylor Co. GA.
