1910 "Abstract of North Carolina Wills [1690-1760] compiled from original and recorded wills in the office of the Secretary of State" by J. Bryan Grimes (Sacramento FHC book 975.6 P2gr, FHL fiche 6,046,876; part from Evelyn Sigler 3/1981; pg.104-105 and index from Laura Jones 7/1983)

            Alexander Logan. October 9, 1739. November 6, 1739. Executors: Thomas Blount of Cape Fear, Thomas Blount and Jesse Blount of Chowan County. Executors are directed to sell the real and personal estate of the testator, and forward proceeds of sale to Messrs. Johnston & Robinson at Charlestown, to be by them forwarded to Thomas Kennedy of Bristol, to be applied by him as before directed. Witnesses: J. Montgomery, John Duncan, Dennis Sherlock. Proven before W. Smith, C.J. (pg.219) (FHL book 975.6 S2gr) (MAD: wanted to find out where this will was filed or where Alexander Logan was; Cape Fear is Brunswick-New Hanover Co. on south coast next to SC, Chowan Co. is near Pasquotank, etc. on Albemarle Sound near VA; could not locate.)
      Basterin Cannongate, Scotland:
            Isabella Cameron Brand, relict of Andrew Brand. This is an assignment to Alex Cunnyngham of Cannongate, Scotland, in case of the death of testatrix who is about to set forth for Carolina and names as legatees, Nephew: John Murray (son of Robert Murray of Glencarnock) and Robina Cameron, his wife, and as Executor, John Rutherford (Merchant in Cape Fear). This will (or assignment) is written on stamped paper. Witnessed by Thomas Ainslee and Dun McDonald, and proven at August Court, 1748, before Jas. Moran, Clerk of the Court, by Alexr Duncan by "Parity of Hands." (pg.44-45)

Testator was a Mason and desired to be buried with Masonic honors. Codicil to will dated October 5, 1765, provides for child "in ventre sa mere", and also for erection of sawmill. Witnesses to codicil: Mary Grainger, Margaritt Douglass, Edmond Foger. Will proven before the Lieutenant Governor, as evidenced by letter from Fountain Elwin. (pg.139)
