      BB-201 (2nd): On 4 July 1870, at sale of lands for taxes in 1869, the NW 1/4 and W 1/2 of NE 1/4 Sec.31 Twp.8 Range 7 were sold to J.M. Duncan, and J.R. Owen then Sheriff and tax collector failed to execute a deed; the Board of Supervisors on 7 July 1880 ordered the present sheriff R.T.M. Simmons to make a deed; this a deed to grant, sell and convey the above land. (no purchase price given). 9 July 1879. /s/ R.T.M. Simmons. (FHL film 904,266)

CEMETERY RECORDS

Scott Co. MS Family Cemetery (photos and information from Al F. Roberts Jr. 8/2002)
      The cemetery is in Section 9, Twp.7 Range 6E. It is a small plot containing the graves of John M. Duncan and his immediate family, located on his old home place in Scott County, MS. The property is now owned by Mr. Pat Jeffcoats, but one acre of the property was set aside for this cemetery, in perpetuity. (MAD: photos of the stones show an upright stone for George W. Duncan, probably the original; the other five stones are rectangular concrete or marble markers laying flat, in a row, with the same style of lettering.)
