A-197/198: Green DeWitt, Sheriff of Ralls Co. MO, that certain Writs of Execution issued from Clerk's Office of Circuit Court for Ralls Co., returnable at December term of said court 1822, against Samuel K. Caldwell, admr. & Mary Shaw, admx, of goods & chattels, rights & credits of Joel Shaw decd, the one in favour of Hugh White & the other of Samuel Shaw, directed to Sheriff of Ralls Co., by virtue of which Writs of Execution, I the said Sheriff on 2 May 1822 seized all the interest of said Joel Shaw decd. to lots of ground in town of Palmyra, lot No.5 in block No.17, lot No.6 in block No.17, lot No.8 in block No.19, lot No.3 in block No.31, and lot No.4 in block No.31, being advertised agreable to law ..., on 20 Aug. 1822, I sold at public sale the interest of Joel Shaw decd., and Cary K. Duncan of Lincoln Co. afsd was highest bidder at $6.75, now I, Green DeWitt, Sheriff, for $6.75 paid by said Cary K. Duncan, transfer and assign to said Cary K. A-198/199: Pike Co. MO, to Sheriff of Ralls Co., by our writ of Testatum Fieri Facias we commanded you of the goods, ... of Joel Shaw decd. at the time of his death in the hands of Samuel K. Caldwell admin. and Mary Shaw administratrix of said Joel Shaw deceased and unadministered in your county, you cause to be made $418.58 cost which Samuel Shaw at term of our Circuit Court began and held on 2nd Mon. in Nov. 1821 recovered against said Samuel H. Caldwell, admin., as well as $2 for said writ of execution and 50 cents to the Sheriff of Pike Co. for his return on the first execution ... amounting in all to $423.08, and you cause to be made and have the money before the Judge of our court at next term at August ... by levying on 55-3/4 acres of land adj. town of Palmyra and now in Ralls Co. MO, and also on 67 lots in the town afsd which you had advertised for sale but could not complete said sales for want of sufficient time, and praying for further time and we being desirous that said Samuel Shaw should have his damages and cost, command you to sell for the best price you can command at public sale ... /s/ Levi Pettibone, Clerk of our said court, 14 Aug. 1821. MO all my interest and claim to a certain parcel of land in town of Palmyra in county and state afsd, Lot No.6 in Block No.13, for $30 paid by said Mary W. A-385: 19 Nov. 1825, William Duncan of Ralls Co. MO to Abraham K. Fry of afsd, for $550 receipt acknowledged, sell to A.K. Fry one lot of ground containing 54-3/4 acres, being part of the location on which the town of Palmyra is situated and the part claimed by Joel Shaw decd, and was sold under execution to satisfy his debts & joining Palmyra on the south and O. Dickerson on the east of his farm on which he now lives, 6-1/2 acres of said tract of land that is improved with the houses and every appurtenances thereunto belonging is rated $265, I the said Duncan warrant and defend title of, from claim of all and every person to the sd A.K. Fry, the balance of said tract containing 48 acres and 1/4 acre that is rated at $285, I, William Duncan, only warrant and defend the title from the claim of all and every person claiming through or under me, to the said Abraham K. Minor our attorney to prosecute any suits for us for recovery of any real estate which we may have an interest in, in the counties of Pike, Ralls, Lincoln and Audrain in the state of Missouri or to settle by compromise or otherwise any dispute in reference to said real estate and also to sell and dispose of in fee simple any real estate in which we are interested in the above counties and to make to Edwin Philander? and Daniel Draper Jr. a good warentee deed to the following real estate in Pike Co. MO, Sec.20 Twp.54N R1W containing 360 acres more or less as soon as the said Draper shall comply with the terms and agreements entered into at the time of sale or in his discretion may make to said Draper a deed with a clause of mortgage at any time as our said attorney may see fit ... our said attorney is advised and empowered to sell the said (too dark) for such price as he shall think fit ... and make a deed or conveyance ... 28 Nov. 1855. /s/ Stephen Duncan, Cathn. Book (too dark ...) at the land office in Palmyra, MO, as they appear by the following mentioned cert. dated July 19, 1836, to wit, No.14928 for 2,x00 acres; No.14,729, for 320 acres; No.14,730 for 15,020 acres; No.14,731 for 14,051-29/100 acres; No.14913 for 160 acres; certificates dated Aug. 12, 1836 for 240 acres; No.15167 for 169-13/100 acres; all of said lands having been conveyed by said Herrick & wife to said Tyler by deed Aug. 1836, recorded in Pike Co. excepting from this conveyance the interest of Fyler in the following described tracts embraced in those certificates & situated in Audrain Co., the E 1/2 Sec.24, N 1/2 Sec.27, S 1/2 Sec.9, E 1/2? of SW 1/4 Sec.24, all in Sec.? 26, Twp.52, Range 5; also NE 1/4 Sec.30, E 1/2 SW 1/4 Sec.29, W 1/2 NE 1/4 Sec.31, E 1/2 NW 1/4 Sec.33, N 1/2 Sec.30, S 1/2 Sec.19, and W 1/2 SE 1/4 Sec.30; and this exception made convey to said Duncan & Fisk;

also lots in town of Louisianna, Pike Co., to wit, lot having front of 16 feet running back 120 feet, being lot No.94 in Block 17; also lots No.153 & 154 in said block, ..., each a front of 60 feet by a depth of 120 feet, conveyed by said Herrick & wife to said Fyler by deed March 23, 1837, recorded in Pike Co. Book E pg. 181 & 182;
it is declared that the interest herein conveyed is the undivided third part of said tracts of land excepting only those above excepted, the other undivided 2/3 of all of said lands having been previously conveyed to said Duncan & said Fisk by deed from said Fyler to them dated Feb. 22, 1849. Now for $1 paid by said Duncan & Fisk, by quit-claim by said Duncan & Fisk unto Jared D. Fyler Junior and Agness?? H. Fyler, residents of St. Louis Co., MO, all their interest in a tract of land in Pike Co. State of Illinois, Sec.7 Twp.5S Range ? West containing 734-29/100 acres, and E 1/2 & SW 1/4 Sec.12 Twp.5S Range 5W, being the same tract conveyed by Rolin W. ?? & wife to Jared D. Fyler by deed Oct. 30, 1839, recorded in Pike Co. A-155/157: Shff of Ralls to Duncan, Deed. In the Circuit Court for Ralls Co. MO, 16 Feb. 1826, the following order was made as will appear in Record Book A, pg.97, to wit, on the motion of William Duncan who has proved here in court that a mistake was committed by Green Dewitt former Sheriff of Ralls Co. on 20 August 1822 when he inserted or caused to be inserted in a deed by him made to William Duncan and acknowledged on 21 Aug. 1822 for certain lands adjacent to Palmyra and for certain lots in the Town of Palmyra sold by said Sheriff as the property of Joel Shaw decd. to said Duncan as the highest bidder, lot No.1 in Block 8, whereas he ought to have inserted Lot No.5 in Block No.8, therefore it is ordered by the court that the Sheriff made a deed to said William Duncan for Lot No.5 in Block No.8 in the town of Palmyra in Ralls Co., now therefore I, Joseph Wright, Sheriff of Ralls Co. MO, ... per afsd order and for consideration money paid by said William Duncan to said Green DeWitt former sheriff, $276.81-1/2, being the purchase money paid for the afsd lot in town of Palmyra and for other lots and lands as will appear by reference to the deed of said Green DeWitt former Sheriff of Ralls Co. to said William Duncan dated 20 Aug. 1822 and recorded in Deed Book A, pg.136, and following, in Ralls Co. MO Recorder's office, to which deed this is a supplement for the purpose of correcting the error, Therefore I the Sheriff sell all the interest and property of Joel Shaw decd. to the afsd lot No.5 in Block No.8 to said William Duncan. 30 March 1829. /s/ Joseph Wright, Sheriff for Ralls Co.
