      3-422: Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Kirtley of the County of St. Maries in the Province of Maryland, planter do discharge and acquitt John Hartley of the County of Westmorld in Virga from all debts dues and demands whatsoever and from all suites or causes of suits whatsoever more especially from a suit brought in my name in the County Court of the County of Westmorl'd abovesd. against the above said John Hartley for detaining three children Viz. Wm. Kirtley, Rebecca Kirtley and George Kirtley by Daniel McCauly from the beginning of the world to this day. As witness my hand and seal this first day of April Anno.             25 Sept. 1706. Danll. Harper and Charles Dunkan depose they saw Thomas Kirtley acknowledge the discharge. 18 Sept. 1706. Thomas Hartley (sic) of St. Mary's Co. MD, but formerly of Westmoreland County declare before Charles Dunkan and Danl. Harper that I never did impower Danl. McCarty of Westmoreland County my attorney against John Hartley to sue him for detaining three children, William Kirtley, Rebecca and George Kirtley. /s/ Thomas Kirtley.
