2-328 to 329: 17 Nov. 1883, Peter Duncan of Tipton Co. IN, (1) to wife (unnamed) in lieu of her interest in my lands, the farm on which we now reside in Prairie Twp., Tipton Co. IN, about 120 acres, for her life, and all the stock, household goods, etc. for her life, she to sell enough to pay my debts. (2) At her death, equal division between my bodily heirs. (3) My son Landon E. Duncan owes my son Charles C. Duncan $760 and if he does not pay, all my heirs bear an equal part in paying said Charles C. Duncan he loosing his share with the rest of my heirs, and if said Landon E. Duncan pays the debt, this item 3 is null. Revoke any former wills. Wit. George W. Smith, Frank Wright. Proved by Frank Wright 9 April 1890.

Pg.489-91: George W. Duncan ... farmer of Prairie Twp, Tipton Co. IN, farm of 157 acres, native of Hoosier state, born in Rush Co. on Jan. 8, 1846, son of James and Matilda (Cones) Duncan, former a native of WV and latter born in KY. James Duncan came to IN after maturity; he was educated in his native state and when a young man worked for a short time on boats plying the Ohio River; then farmed until his death which occurred in August, 1885. In fall of 1852 he came to IN, locating in Howard Co., where he purchased 80 acres. He married Matilda Cones, daughter of John Cones; ten children: John J. married Susan Neal; Margaret wife of Clark Shelton; Robert married Lida Gibbons; Jacob A. married Catherine Coons; William C. married Lida Brummet; and Mary E. who married Thomas Carr. Besides these, Rachel and Mary Jane died young and unmarried, and William J. died in infancy. George W., one of the sons of this family, is the immediate subject of this sketch. George W. Duncan received early education in schools of Howard Co.; enlisted Sept. 1863 in Co. I, 118th Reg. IN Volunteer Infantry; discharged 1864. Went to MO a year later, soon returned home where he and his brother formed partnership and farmed together until he married, when he started farming on his own. In Sept. 1869 he married Sarah Evans, daughter of John Evans; no children, Mrs. Duncan not living long after her marriage. Her death occurred in 1871; on March 20, 1873, Mr. Duncan married as his second wife to Ida Chase, daughter of Joseph and Georgia (Redmon) Chase; five children in Chase family: Jesse, Charles and Belle are decd, Josie is wife of Edwin Featherstone, and Ida is present Mrs. Duncan. Mr. Duncan and second wife have 5 children, two died in early infancy; the remaining are William A. married Viola Coleman and had one child Irene; Mabel is widow of William Jarrett who died in 1910 (their children not copied here); and John Omar who married Carrie Cooper and had a daughter Wilma. George W. Duncan a Democrat; she in Methodist Episcopal Church.

Pg.81: Duncan, Clarence G. (29), son of H.C. and Laretta Duncan, was born in Tipton Co., Ind., March 9, 1897. He entered the army at Kokomo, Ind., Sept.5, 1918, and was in training at both Camp Zachary Taylor and Camp Knox, Ky., as a truck driver for Headqrs. Co., Seventieth Regiment, Eleventh Division, until his discharge Feb.7, 1919.
MAD: The will of Rebecca Dunc?an of Clinton Co. IN dated 20 Jan. 1863, rec. 21 Sept. 1870, naming sons and daughters, executors to be son Eli Dungan and Jesse A. Dungan, with a note the will was proved in "Butter" (Butler?) Co. OH on 9 Aug. 1869, was recorded in Tipton Co. IN Will Book 2, pgs.4-9; abstracted in "Tipton Co.
