Pg.93, Muhlenburgh Co. GEORGE GORDON, Muhlenburgh Co., was born Dec. 1, 1831, in Stockport, England; the eldest of nine children born to Joshua and Hester (Combs) Gordon. George Gordon sailed from England, Aug. 23, 1856; landed in NY Oct. 2, went immediately to Fall River, MA, where he took charge of 48 looms; he was a weaver. In April 1857 he moved to Perry Co. IN and took charge of 75 looms at Cannelton; remained 9 years. Jan. 11, 1862, enlisted in Co. G, 53rd IN Volunteer Infantry, commanded by W.O. Gresham; discharged as a Sergeant Dec. 1862 at St.Louis on account of disability ..., returned to Cannelton until April 1865, then went to Gallatin, TN, until July ... in 1870 to where he now resides in Central City, KY. Mr. Gordon was married July 31, 1857, to Agnes Gibson of Cannelton [Perry Co. IN], a native of Glasgow, SCT, and a dau. of Daniel and Margaret (Duncan) Gibson, natives of Cannelton and Lenox, Scotland, respectively ...
