Joseph arrived in Sydney as a Convict, he arrived on the "Adamant" in 1821. He was apparently convicted in 1820 for the terms of 7 years. Joseph may have been born in Leicestershire and was described as a framework fitter. After getting his ticket of Leave in the district of Wilberforce, moved to Goulburn became a storekeeper and prospered. Joseph was a very successful business man and started a Drapery Store and Pharmacy. He also owned a Bank, "Australian Joint Stock Bank" and when he died left a sizable estate valued at 14000 Pounds. Little is known of Elizabeth. The Family was also involved in the Church and Joseph donated land for Church buildings in the area.
