CHURCHES and GRAVEYARDS in Dumfries and Galloway
DUMFRIESSHIRE -- Churches and Graveyards
Durisdeer Church & Village
Durisdeer Glen in former times provided access from Nithsdale to the North and East of Scotland. The Romans used this route in their military expeditions against the northern tribes of Britain. The outline of a roman fortlet marks one of their command posts on the road throught the hills.
Today the paved road stops at Durisdeer Village.
A path through the glen is a popular summer walk.
